NLCF doesn't exist!

[edit]

The "National Leadership Computing Facility (NLCF)" hasn't existed for a long time now. The ORNL division "National Center for Computational Sciences" tried to brand its computing center the NLCF, but wasn't successful in doing so. The correct name is the Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility (OLCF). It has had this name for at least a few years at this point. See http://www.olcf.ornl.gov/ (Note: I work for the OLCF.) National Leadership Computing FacilityOak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility – The correct and current name of the facility is the Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility. The name "National Leadership Computing Facility" was tried about 6-8 years ago with little success. See http://www.olcf.ornl.gov/ SeanAhern (talk) 18:39, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

National Center for Computational Sciences

[edit]

It seems that the National Center for Computational Sciences is the same thing as the Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility. The former's web address (nccs.gov) even redirects to olcf.ornl.gov. If that is the case then the two articles should be merged. Bomazi (talk) 18:50, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Good idea. Propose the merge. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Merging#Proposing_a_merger SeanAhern (talk) 18:55, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

NCCS and OLCF are different. OLCF is the primary project which NCCS operates (Jaguar, Titan, Summit, and Frontier were all or will all be a part of OLCF). Other projects, such as CADES, NCRC, and the Air Force collaboration are part of NCCS but *not* OLCF; each of those has their own respective website. 99.110.77.236 (talk) 01:59, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
