New intro text proposal for National Council of La Raza article

What follows is our proposal for text to replace the current text in the introduction, which we believe is in keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view [[1]].

The National Council of La Raza (NCLR) is the largest Latino civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States, and works to improve opportunities for Hispanic Americans. It was founded in 1968 and is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, tax-exempt organization headquartered in Washington, DC.

NCLR has state and regional offices in Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Phoenix, and San Antonio, and a network of over 265 community-based organizations called Affiliates.

In addition to its advocacy of comprehensive immigration reform , NCLR provides policy analysis and advocates on issues including housing, health, immigration, education, immigration, workforce development, and civic engagement.

You are using primary sources. That's why it reads like a press release. It's biased. It has to be secondary sources. Please see reliable sources. SW3 5DL (talk) 05:40, 27 August 2016 (UTC)

"a path to citizenship"

The intro had read that the group advocated "a path to citizenship." This was ambiguous and likely to be misleading to readers not familiar with the issue and its context. Many Hispanics/Latinos in the US are already citizens (either natural born or naturalized), and those who immigrated to the US legally already have a path to citizenship. What the group advocates for is rather "a path to citizenship *for illegal immigrants*." On this point raised by user above, we respectfully call on the Wikipedia community to reconsider. The term “illegal immigrants” is not neutral. It is controversial and in dispute, and no longer used by several major news organizations. Rem1321 (talk) 21:37, 3 October 2016 (UTC)

In addition, the following paragraph is factually incorrect for 2016, and cites from a book published in 1999:

Three-quarters of its funding comes from private sources, including individuals and corporations, and one-quarter of its funding is from the federal government.[3]

The federal government funding percentage is 15% as of September 2015. The remaining 85% of funding is from individuals, corporations, and foundations. Our 2015 Annual Report contains our most current financial statements. The organization's IRS Form 990 returns can also be found online.

We find odd that a reference to our funding would be placed in the second paragraph of the page. We have seen no similar reference to the federal funding of other US minority civil rights organizations on Wikipedia.Rem1321 (talk) 21:37, 3 October 2016 (UTC)

Expanding History section

The page's History section primarily focuses on its founding and gives sparse details from then on. There's a large gap in history represented between 1996 and 2017. Would like to add more objective details about the organization's efforts (along with the organization's logo after a rebranding), but since I'm a paid employee of UnidosUS, I want to make sure I'm doing so in a way that follows Wikipedia's standards.

In 2008, launched largest Latino voter registration and engagements. Have registered more than half a million new voters since. The citation style used in the edit request consists of bare URL's.
