Coriolis

[edit]

I saw the Coriolis demo not far from Nanyuki. First, I got the chance to try it myself, and found that pouring the water in with my right hand gave rotation one way, while pouring it in with my left hand gave rotation the other way. This resulted from pouring the water not quite toward the center of the bowl. Also, the directions we were told (clockwise in the northern hemisphere, as stated in the article) are backwards! If you're there, experiment for yourself. —JerryFriedman 22:24, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Distance from Equator

[edit]

If Nanyuki is 0°01′ North of the equator, then Nanyuki is only 31 metres north of the equator unless I'm mistaken. 1 degree on longitude is 1 nautical mile or 1852 metres. One minute of longitude is 1852 ÷ 60 or 30,87 metres. Avi8tor (talk) 06:25, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
