Confusion between Mithridates?
[edit]An anonymous editor added this claim:
- According to Plutarch he was sentenced to death by scaphism, and survived it for 17 days.
The reference being to Plutarch's Artaxerxes. But Plutarch's Mithridates was a Persian who wounded Cyrus the Younger at the battle of Cunaxa in 401 BC and was executed soon afterwards. This does not seem to be the same person as the other gentlemen of the same name mentioned in the article. (If there is genuine scholarly opinion that these people may be identified then we can restore the claim with an appropriate reference.) Gdr 23:13, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
