Midlands (Tasmania) → Midlands, Tasmania — Following the discussion on Southeast region, it was decided that South-East Region, Ireland was the proper name. By the same logic, this article should also receive a comma separator, not parentheses. Laurel Lodged (talk) 23:48, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose - unlike the Sud-Ouest Region (Burkina Faso) and South-East District (Botswana), this is not an official subnational entity or city, so the Location, Country nomenclature doesn't seem correct. Midlands (Tasmania) is fine in this case. — Amakuru (talk) 21:42, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
- Note - further to the above, we have English Midlands and Irish Midlands so how about Tasmanian Midlands? — Amakuru (talk) 21:43, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
- we dont make up names Gnangarra 01:08, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
- That should be a redirect, as a plausible misnomer. 76.66.200.95 (talk) 03:52, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

- Comment I tend to agree with Amakuru that the "comma" form of disambiguation does not seem appropriate, although I can't quite seem to clarify my thoughts on this. I would note that other unofficial regions in Australia use the parentheses form of disambiguation (New England (Australia) and Central West (New South Wales)) or even spell the name out in full Goldfields region of Victoria. However Western District, Victoria is an exception for reasons I can't explain. -- Mattinbgn (talk) 23:04, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
- Weak oppose per the argument that it's not an official name. Happy with all the other proposed formats (brackets, Tasmanian midlands, Midlands of Tasmania). Donama (talk) 00:18, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose we have Midland, Western Australia the use of (brackets) distinguishes between gazzetted towns, cities and other name types. Gnangarra 01:06, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose- mountains, lakes, valleys, plains, regions are all geographic areas in Australia. Some regions have been given rather arbitrary and variable boundaries by various authorities at various times but they are not analogous to South-East Region, Ireland which is a formal bounded area comprising a group of LGAs. Western District, Victoria and a couple in NSW are now wrongly disambiguated and should be changed dependant on the outcome of this discussion. (Crusoe8181 (talk) 02:45, 14 October 2010 (UTC)).
- Oppose - per arguments from Crusoe and Gnangarra - also I had added the qualifying comment in the article which identifies the term as being loose and not a specific locality SatuSuro 03:52, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose Even for somewhat officially defined regions such as we have in WA, we have used brackets for disambig. Orderinchaos 22:30, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
