Only person hit by space debris?
[edit]The statement that Lottie Williams is the only person hit by space debris may not be true.
- This Brown University webpage first caught my eye, quoting some unknown source about a Japanese ship hit by debris, injuring five.
- A NYT article from July 5, 1969, says five Japanese sailors were injured by Soviet space debris. (Paywalled so I can't see the full text.)
- Cosmic Debris by Jonathan Powell states: "However, this was the case regarding a Japanese cargo ship, struck by several fragments while stationed off the port of De-Kastri in Russia. Considering the size of De-Kastri oil terminal, one of the biggest to deliver oil to the Asian markets, it seems even more improbable that the debris should single out this one particular Japanese freighter. Five sailors received injuries from the debris, with each individual fragment weighing around 10 kg." (p. 159) Similar to the NYT article but without a date of incident (also, NYT says the ship was cruising, Powell says it was stationed). Zachcrush14 (talk) 04:32, 14 November 2022 (UTC)
