Untitled

[edit]

This is based on listening to a speech that he gave at IU–B and on a display he set-up with his comic book collection at the Lilly Library.

This is not a hoax. Here is a Web site to help verify the information: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0882388/

Also, see Batman (film). Someone needs to hyperlink Uslan's name on that page.

That's not how course accreditation works,

[edit]

For the moment, I've added citation tags to the statements about Uslan's interactions with the (curiously unnamed) Dean. While it makes a nice anecdote, and while I'm certain Uslan was involved in many discussions with academics regarding the nature of his course, it's not likely that the course came about because of a pithy conversation. -- Merope 18:46, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have heard Uslan speak a couple of times, at IU Law and at the IU commencement in 2006. I don't recall him claiming that he was an IU professor. Rather, when he was an undergrad, the University was running a program that allowed students to create special courses of study with approval by the dean.

The commencement address at IU in May 06 is archived at http://www.graduationwisdom.com/archive/archive000.htm. I don't find it curious that the dean is unnamed. This would have been a passing interaction 40 years ago. This was not how course accreditation worked normally, this was a special program to develop new new and inventive types of courses. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.116.28.102 (talk) 23:39, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article currently states that "he became a professor at IU." If he never was a professor, this should be corrected.--M. Frederick 19:22, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Critical dates

[edit]

This article could be improved by providing dates for context. When was he born? When did he call the reporter? When did he produce the Batman films? --M. Frederick 19:18, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Michael uslan.jpg

[edit]

Image:Michael uslan.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Batman film rights

[edit]

You're kind of missing a major part of Uslan's story here. The way the article currently reads it looks like Uslan and Melnicker were just hired to be the producers of Batman and just did such a danged good job that they've been given the job over and over through numerous corporate regimes. The reason the two of them are the Batman producers isn't because Time Warner just adores them, it's because Time Warner stupidly sold them the film rights to the character at a time when they had no idea of how to deal with the synergies among their divisions and thought that Batman would never make it as a movie. I'm not sure whether Uslan holds the rights in perpetuity or whether they're ever going to expire, but his name is on every "movie" (including direct to video releases from the animation divisions) because it legally HAS to be, not because he just keeps lucking out and getting hired. Not incidentally, this deal has made the man VERY wealthy despite the fact that he was never particularly successful as a writer or creative force in his own right. 72.227.148.197 (talk) 06:41, 5 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
