New views section
[edit]AFter I added some info on his hostages work, some of ot was removed, due to a claim that it did not belong in careers and that politics was alredy under discussion. I propose to add the following new section immediately below the one line in careers about his shorts regarding the hostages.
Why is this different and supportable when previous edits by a number of editors have not been?
- It is a general views section, not just about Israel. It cnludes both his oft=stated love of hip-hop, his left-leaning positions and recent modification of those positions, as well as Israel.
- It uses a number of clear secondary sources (news with commentary or analysis is considered seconary per WP:PRIMARY), and limited allowable uses of news-as-primary-source (allowed generally where he content is a clear, simple reading of the news content, and also referred to obliquely as acceptable in WP:BLP)
Here is the prposed content, plus the one remaining line in Carrer
Career[...]
After the October 7, 2023 Hamas-led attack on Israel, Rapaport appeared in many independent activitist shorts supporting the release of hostages taken by Hamas and its affiliates.[1]

[edit]Under Early Life and Education there is an error about his sister and her stepfather. His sister's mother remarried Mark Lownow. Michael's mother did not marry him. "After his parents divorced, Rapaport's mother married comic Mark Lonow, who owned The Improv with Budd Friedman." 2A02:C7C:6D23:700:2823:3E75:5961:95E1 (talk) 19:13, 10 April 2024 (UTC)

Delete “after his parents divorce, Rapaport’s mother married comic Mark Lonow, who owned The Improv with Budd Friedman”. It is his half sisters mother who married Mark Lonow, not his 2603:8001:9500:A3:CC28:B6B0:9C90:B365 (talk) 21:19, 22 May 2024 (UTC)

- Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. Charliehdb (talk) 10:45, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Charliehdb I just spent some time down this rabbit hole. Too much time!
- First of all, there are 2 references for this - one is a podcast and the second is the NY Post. I listened to the pod and unless I missed it, I didn't hear anything about this. Post is obviously problematic.
- Secondly, on https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2021/aug/15/michael-rapaport-interview-kevin-durant-public-feuds, Rapaport says that Lonow is his "is his sister’s stepdad; “It’s complicated,”"
- On Claudia Lonow it says she is Rapaport's half sister and Lonow is her stepdad. So there is no direct link berween Lonow and Rapaport. Given the problematic sourcing, I think ths should be removed.
- What do you think? MaskedSinger (talk) 06:44, 6 October 2024 (UTC)
