Expand lead section to include brief information on the composer's stylistic location in relation to his contemporaries and in historical terms. Add a sentence to the lead section to say 'As a non-party political member of the House of Lords, he speaks as an advocate for the arts, contemporary music and music education'.

Change section heading 'Compositions' to 'Notable compositions'. Group compositions by genre, with genre subheadings. Mention further notable compositions:

Michael Berkeley became composer in association with the BBC NOW in 2000; see http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/now/sites/orchestra/pages/historynoflash.shtml under the heading "A new team is appointed" near the bottom of the page.
