I have cleaned up, wikified and referenced the article. There is still much work that needs to be done. Capitalistroadster 11:37, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Recent removal of 2003 controversy

[edit]

An IP user (202.130.195.90) who has recently edited this article, has removed the following contents a second time without edit summary. If there is no good reason for deleting this material, I will restore it. Political interference into the programing integrity of a public arts festival seems like a notable aspect to me. The section in question is:

In 2003, Andrew Olexander, the Victorian Opposition Arts Spokesman criticised the Festival for selecting a show called I Am Blood. Mary Delahunty, the Minister for the Arts, stated that the Festival should select material without political interference. [3]

This statement was referenced with:

Change page name

[edit]

The page name of this article should be changed to Melbourne Festival. As of 2003, the Festival is no longer referred to as Melbourne International Arts Festival. Davidgeoffreyh (talk) 00:36, 31 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

No one has contested the move so I will not reverted, but in case this comes up in future anyone should feel free to revert per WP:BRD – the outcome of this RM should not be seen as binding in any way. Melbourne International Arts FestivalMelbourne Festival – In 2003 the name of the organisation was changed from Melbourne International Arts Festival to Melbourne Festival. The Wikipedia page should be moved in line with the name change. – Davidgeoffreyh (talk) 00:25, 30 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This is a contested technical request (permalink). Anthony Appleyard (talk) 08:57, 30 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Naming / move

[edit]

@MelbFest:: I've reverted your cut and paste move (WP:RM is the correct way if pagemove won't work. That said, I'm also reverting the change of name in the absence of official / reliably sourced evidence that such a name change has occurred. The primary problem is that the official site and its press releases still use "Melbourne Festival" and the MF logo for 2018 -- see https://www.festival.melbourne/. If you have such current evidence that it is actually changing from MF back to MIAF, please add it, but the MWF is not sufficient (people continue to call all sorts of things by old names) -- and indeed I can't see that that the MWF page provides any evidence of such a change. ~Hydronium~Hydroxide~(Talk)~ 08:20, 24 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
