Is it accurate to describe her as an openly lesbian MP? I think she was effectively outed, but it was a while ago and my memories are hazy. PatGallacher (talk) 18:35, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
Also, just checking, the Labour to Tory swing of 8.1% was not much greater than the national swing of 5.2%, the seat was very marginal anyway, so her personal issues may not have been a major factor. PatGallacher (talk) 19:40, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
Pronunciation of name
[edit]I've never heard of the name Colquhoun being pronounced "CAR-hoon". The usual pronunciation is given at the entry for the name Colquhoun, something like "kuh-HOON". Is there any (citable) evidence she pronounces it differently? Flapdragon (talk) 01:14, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
Biographical details
[edit]Naturally she appears here under the name by which she was best known, but, there seemingly being no cause NOT to include what is something generally included in articles- are there no sources for her parentage and maiden name? The birth records of the children mentioned in her former husband's 2010 Guardian obituary, written by his second wife, give the mother's maiden name as "Smith", matching the 1950 marriage record of Archibald K. H. Colquhoun and Maureen M. Smith, but published sources are of course required. Mention is made in some references to her of Who's Who entries etc listing her relationship with Barbara Todd, which one might suppose would include the usual detail of parentage, but I cannot locate any such biographies anywhere online. Perhaps a lengthier obituary, should one be appearing in the Times or Telegraph, would provide this information; some mentions online indicate her to have been of Irish parentage. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.145.191.185 (talk) 00:35, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
