Mark Watson (Canadian soccer) → Mark Watson (Canadian soccer player) – "Canadian soccer" sounds a bit weird like its a separate sport like "Canadian Football" and "American Football" for the non-round ball football. There is another player who is English whose page is at Mark Watson (English footballer), which is why the nationality was added, but I think player should be added to match better.
Alternative would be to use year of birth as is standard for other players of the sport and move to Mark Watson (soccer, born 1970) and Mark Watson (footballer, born 1973) for the Canadian and English player respectively, but I think the single move adding soccer suffices.
Although he is a manager now, so maybe simply Mark Watson (soccer) would work better. RedPatchBoy (talk) 22:28, 15 March 2021 (UTC)

- Oppose WP:NCSP does prefer the nationality as the disambiguator in this case, so Mark Watson (soccer) would not be an adequate title. And as you mentioned, Watson is no longer a player, so Mark Watson (Canadian soccer player) would not be more accurate. While I agree that it looks funny at first glance, it does appear to be the correct title as per policy. If this is moved, you'd be looking at changing more articles, for example, Bobby Smith (Canadian soccer), George Anderson (Canadian soccer), Jeff Clarke (Canadian soccer), etc. 162.208.168.92 (talk) 23:59, 15 March 2021 (UTC)
- Move back to Mark Watson (soccer), the article's original title, which has redirected back to this article with no problem for over 10 years. A hatnote is already in place for the footballer. WP:CONCISE. - Station1 (talk) 02:55, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
- Move to YOB - Mark Watson (soccer, born 1970) and Mark Watson (footballer, born 1973). Also we never use 'soccer player' as a disambiguation. GiantSnowman 12:44, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
- Support this alternative.--Ortizesp (talk) 14:35, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
- Support this alternative. -- Necrothesp (talk) 11:49, 26 March 2021 (UTC)
- Support this alternative as well. "(soccer)" is insufficient per Special:Permalink/959873230#RfC: Does WP:ENGVAR suffice for disambiguating footballers from soccer players?. Using the year of birth here is conclusive per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (sportspeople)#Association football (soccer) and addresses the problem raised by the nominator. ~ Aseleste (t, e | c, l) 16:20, 24 April 2021 (UTC)
