The current formulation "lived in Rome until his death on 7 January 1968" is somewhat misleading as Roatta escaped to Spain with help from Vatican and the British in 1945 and returned back to Italy and Rome only in 1966 dying there soon after. -89.66.180.105 (talk) 08:30, 8 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Despite his role in mass murders and ethnic cleansing, it may be notable that Roatta refused to deliver Jews to German authorities for processing to extermination camps in the Italian-occupied territory in Yugoslavia.
