A young grade eleven(11) learner Magdalena Stoffels, aged seventeen(17), was callously murdered in a riverbed while on her way to school.
Magdalena's brutal slaying is just one of several other slayings that occur in Namibia on a daily basis although hers is considered a wake up call for the nation to the brutallity women face each and everyday.In death,Magdalena is not that ordinary girl who trod the footpath to school everyday,unknown,unseen and unrecognised because now she is the face of Namibia's brutality on innocent girls and women.
Before Magdalena were other unfortunate woman,girls and babies who suffered gruesomely at the hands of cruel men.There was the case where a 16-year old school girl was gang raped in 2009,a three-year old child was raped and murdered and an 80-year old woman was raped.While others have survived the rape ordeals,the three quoted above and Magdalena were not so lucky!
The death of Magdalena demands government acts against crime with urgency,'''Africa's view on the death.

Although she was yet to come to terms with Magdalena's brutal death,Magriet said, "I cannot say how i feel right now.But I feel as if I am dreaming."
This awful tragedy of the 27 July 2010 shocked over a million people,not just around Namibia but the whole Africa at large,NCCI shocked by Magdalena Stoffels’ gruesome murder.
