Copyright violation

Some text obviously copied from other sources was added by a user editing without logging in from IP address 198.151.130.210 (at Rutgers University), and then re-added by 18AA ext2013.

Nearly all of the third paragraph was copied from the BirdLife International factsheet. Here is a snippet of the original:

Lake Alaotra, one of very few unconverted central plateau wetlands, is under considerable and increasing pressure: the area is one of Madagascar's major rice producers, with 250 km2 of the 350 km2 surrounding the lake converted to rice cultivation (Edhem 1993). Soil erosion from deforested hillsides and more intensive agricultural practices have diminished the water quality of the lake (Pidgeon 1996). Introductions of exotic plants, mammals (Rattus) and fish, especially Tilapia, have depleted essential food supplies and likely increased nest-predation for the species (Pidgeon 1996).

Here is the text before I removed the copyright violation:

Additionally, "The Madagascar Pochard was once considered relatively common at Lake Alaotra in the 1930's, but declined in numbers dramatically during the decades that followed. The last observation of the Pochard was at Alaotra in 1960." was copied from ARKive.

This text might not have been added by 18AA ext2013, because it was originally added by the IP address editor. I noticed it because it was written in a different style from 18AA ext2013's additions, which have grammar that could be improved, but appear to be sufficiently original to not be plagiarism.

I would appreciate some other eyes on this, since probably none of the other text by 18AA ext2013 is in violation of copyright, but checking it against its sources is now necessary. (I might not get the time to perform this very tedious process.) —innotata 20:54, 25 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
