Requested move

No consensus to move. Vegaswikian (talk) 23:10, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
MTVNHD → MTV Live HD – The channel was rebranded on 1 July 2011 in most of the regions where the MTVNHD brand was used, the UK and Ireland appears to be the only exception. Reliable sources have since begun to refer to the channel as MTV Live HD.[1][2] MTVNHD.com is now redirecting to mtv.tv/mini/MTVLIVEHD-About-Us. - Jasmeet_181 (talk) 21:33, 10 July 2011 (UTC)
- I would not have contested the move if you had made a separate section for the UK channel in the article In my opinion this would make the article more factually correct. obviously this could be merged into the main section of the article if the UK channel follows suit and rebrands as well but simply having 1 sentence is not enough in my opinion. This separate section could then be linked to in the list of sky and virgin channels articles. The MTVNHD logo should also be placed near this separate section of the article as close to as possible. However my primary belief is as the channel was called MTVNHD originally that the article should still be listed as that until all nations rebrand the channel but would be prepared to comprise and withdraw my objections to a page move if a separate section was created for the UK channel which is still called MTVNHD(Ruth-2013 (talk) 22:12, 10 July 2011 (UTC))
- According to the availability section, of the 36 countries which the article covers, 34 had used MTVNHD before July, of which 32 now use MTV Live HD. MTV Live HD is clearly the most common name and should be the title of the article. The schedule on the Sky website matches that on the MTV Live HD website so I'm not sure what more could be written to make a separate UK/Irish section worthwhile. The article did also mention the use of the MTVNHD name in the first sentence and the availability section before being moved back. There is no separate section for either VH1 HD (Brazil) or MTVN Live (Australia). Perhaps a subsection of Overview could be made to deal with all three variations but again expanding beyond the information already contained in the article could be difficult. None of the channel links in those list articles link to sections, just the main article pages. The MTV Live HD logo (where the MTVNHD logo had been placed) is currently being pushed down by the infobox, it's a relatively easy fix, although I'd rather not make any non-urgent changes while this discussion is taking place. - Jasmeet_181 (talk) 11:43, 11 July 2011 (UTC)
- One of the main issues here is the list of sky and virgin channels should not link to a page called MTVLIVEHD when the channel in england is still called MTVNHD surly if you create another overview section is there not anyway the virgin and sky lists could link to this part of the article? (Ruth-2013 (talk) 12:47, 11 July 2011 (UTC))
- I don't see why not, for example the Sky list links to Imagine TV (not the name used in the UK) using a piped link, the same already to applies to Australian articles linking here. Of course MTVNHD would also redirect to the MTV Live HD. Linking directly to a section about the UK/Irish channel on the lists isn't a good idea in my opinion, as you would still need to read from the top of the article to know what the channel actually is. - Jasmeet_181 (talk) 22:50, 11 July 2011 (UTC)
- That would be why you would place the following text in Bold: MTVNHD as a opener. Anyway thats my opinion which will not change. In my opinion there needs to be a separate section for MTVNHD or the page stay labeled as MTVNHD till all nations rebrand. Also in my opinion you refer to a channel called imagine tv, I was not aware of that channel been called something else in the UK as its not a channel I view or intend to view but the same applies to that channel in my opinion there should be a separate section on there too for the uk version if its called something else. Requested move 2
[edit]- The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: page moved. Vegaswikian (talk) 18:38, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
MTVNHD → MTV Live HD – The channel was rebranded on 1 July 2011 in most of the regions where the MTVNHD brand was used, the UK and Ireland appears to be the only exception. All users from the previous request have now agreed to a compromise on my my talk page. Jasmeet_181 (talk) 13:16, 22 July 2011 (UTC)
- Previously I was the only one who contested the move which led to the first discussion been opened, I now support the move. I opened a talk page discussion on user Jasmeet 181 page to discuss the issues with this article after the old discussion on this page was closed. If you look at user Jasmeet 181 talk page we come up between ourselves with a suitable compromise so I am now happy for the page to be moved. My previous objection to the page been moved is withdrawn.(Ruth-2013 (talk) 17:11, 22 July 2011 (UTC))
The page should be renamed MTV Live HD not MTV Live or MTVNHD as the global branding and repositioning of the channel is supposed to read MTV Live HD, both on-air, on-line and off-line The page should of course briefly highlight regional variations within the main MTV Live HD page, but overall the channel is MTV Live HD. The page should not read as MTVNHD as this would only serve two territories Ireland and the UK nor should it read as MTV Live as this would also serve Australia and some Asian countries which is pointless as the channel will eventually rebrand to MTV Live HD in these territories year end. Also MTV Live, MTVNHD and VH1 Brazil share the same website www.mtvlivehd.com and schedule as MTV Live HD. In conclusion the channel is now MTV Live HD regardless of some slight regional variations. Also the channel is not country specific and there is no such thing as a UK channel (in regards to MTVNHD) or otherwise. The channel is part of MTV's growing pan-International channels operated by Viacom International Media Networks.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Nua eire (talk • contribs) 19:49, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
CommentAlso would like to point out wp:commonname should apply here, the channel is known as MTV Live HD in most nations now so surly this is this channels common name(Ruth-2013 (talk) 14:44, 28 July 2011 (UTC))
