Purpose
[edit]So what dose Lipa do other than collect peoples checks for power bills and mail them off to national grid.--J intela (talk) 09:05, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
LIPA did not buy all of LILCO
[edit]The article now opens "The Long Island Power Authority or LIPA [ "lie-pah" ], a municipal subdivision of the State of New York, was created under the Long Island Power Act of 1985 to acquire the Long Island Lighting Company (LILCO)'s assets and securities." LIPA did not purchase and does not own LILCO's former gas transmission and distribution assets or its generation assets, all of which were acquired by National Grid. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.74.13.100 (talk) 19:38, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
Municipal subdivision?
[edit]Eh? Does this mean, like a county? Isn't this one of the many New York state public benefit corporations? Jim.henderson (talk) 18:34, 5 November 2012 (UTC)
