Possible merge?

[edit]

I'm not sure if this page is needed. It may be served better under Numerical ordinary differential equations. I plan to add the (unnamed, as far as I can tel) theorem and proof for the relationship between local and global truncation errors.

I felt it wasn't suitable for this information (in particular, the theorem and proof) to go in Truncation error. TomFitzhenry (talk) 19:22, 23 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Examples

[edit]

Is it worth showing how to find the local truncation errors of, say, Euler method and the classical Runge–Kutta_methods?

I'm reluctant to do so because such an analysis is already covered in Euler method. I thought it would have been instructional to have such an explanation next to their definitions. Maybe a link to Euler method will suffice. TomFitzhenry (talk) 19:30, 23 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone add some examples please? At the moment I think this page is only comprehensible to mathematicians or people who already understand the concept.--Manu 001 (talk) 21:10, 18 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Graphical explanation of local/global truncation errors

[edit]

It'd be great if someone could produce a graphic to explain the definitions. I may try, but the results won't be pretty. :) TomFitzhenry (talk) 19:33, 23 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
