Fair use rationale for Image:Colbert025.jpg
[edit]Image:Colbert025.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Suggested move
[edit]- The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: Move to Claudette Colbert filmography. There's consensus for a move away from this title, and this option had somewhat better support, as well as consistency with related articles. Cúchullain t/c 20:36, 12 March 2013 (UTC)
List of works of Claudette Colbert → Works of Claudette Colbert – Shorten, simplify. For example, see Works of Jayne Mansfield. --Relisted. Tyrol5 [Talk] 01:12, 22 February 2013 (UTC) Chriq (talk) 10:58, 14 February 2013 (UTC)
- Weak oppose: Consistency is desirable, and the more common usage on Wikipedia seems to be 'List of ...' (to the extent of my awareness). —BarrelProof (talk) 18:57, 14 February 2013 (UTC)
- Support: The reason why the more common usage is List of... is that until fairly recently, list pages were required to be titled List of... That is no longer the case (the change occurred about two years ago). Admittedly there would be a stronger case if this wasn't purely a list, and had at least an introduction that said something, rather than Here is a list! Skinsmoke (talk) 14:15, 17 February 2013 (UTC)
- Support Claudette Colbert filmography, as per the vast majority of members of Category:Filmographies. --BDD (talk) 17:37, 1 March 2013 (UTC)
- Comment. Is it still a filmography if it includes stage works and the like? If it is then I support BDD's suggestion, if not I support "Works of Claudette Colbert". I see no compelling reason to have "list of" in the title. Jenks24 (talk) 13:10, 9 March 2013 (UTC)
- I think so, yes. Many of them, such as Brian Blessed filmography, Christopher Lee filmography and Jennifer Lopez filmography, include video games; Samuel L. Jackson filmography and Robert De Niro filmography include stage works specifically. Some of them use different titles that indicate a broader scope, but I prefer consistent titles that accurately sum up the scope of the article. If the person is primarily a stage actor, then by all means, we can use a different title. --BDD (talk) 17:58, 9 March 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks, sounds reasonable. I support "Claudette Colbert filmography". Jenks24 (talk) 10:44, 10 March 2013 (UTC)

New proposal to move page
[edit]In keeping with the ideals of Featured Lists, this should be moved to:
Claudette Colbert on stage, screen, radio and television
It's beyond just a filmography, which would suggest it's only about theatrical releases.

Two years later, in 1967, AFI was established, supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Motion Picture Association of America and the Ford Foundation."

... that in spite of its co-star Claudette Colbert believing that It Happened One Night (lobby poster pictured) was " .. the worst picture in the world,” it won all five major categories at the 1935 Academy Awards?

- Newness requirement satisfied with 5x expansion in narrative text. Earwig detected no copyvio/plagiarism issues, and the article is well written and appropriately sourced. The hook is interesting, supported by in-line citation to the CineMontage piece, and comes in at 186 characters (excluding the parenthetical). Image has PD license. QPQ satisfied.
- My only reservation is the decision to bold link the Oscar wins rather than Claudette Colbert, given that the latter is more closely related to the article's title and subject. If the nom feels strongly, I'll pass over this issue, but raising it to see what the nom has to say.Cbl62 (talk) 10:03, 16 November 2020 (UTC)
- Cbl62 the previous ones I bolded the linked actor's name, but Yoninah pointed out that was not the correct way to do it. So, I did it Yoninah's way on this one. Yoniah can more clearly explain the reasoning behind that than I can. — Maile (talk) 11:40, 16 November 2020 (UTC)
- @Cbl62: linking to the name would give the impression that the article is about her, which it is not. But the current bolded link does not relate to the Claudette Colbert filmography article either; it appears to link to the film. Yoninah (talk) 12:45, 16 November 2020 (UTC)
- Yoninah please link it correctly for us. — Maile (talk) 13:12, 16 November 2020 (UTC)
- ALT1: ... that Claudette Colbert, who won her only Academy Award for Best Actress for It Happened One Night (film poster pictured), privately called the film "the worst picture in the world"? Yoninah (talk) 14:46, 16 November 2020 (UTC)
- I am fine with ALT1. I mis-read it the first time. Sorry. — Maile (talk) 15:18, 16 November 2020 (UTC)
