Twin Forks Wind Farm
[edit]The Twin Forks Wind Farm has been built. It is now called the Run Wind Farm, but it isn't quite running yet. https://www.ilnews.org/news/statewide/wind-farm-causes-problems-for-macon-county-residents/article_587e73b8-fd5c-11e7-8b79-3feb7c0df825.html Webbess1 (talk) 17:34, 26 January 2018 (UTC)

[edit]The Wind_power_in_the_United_States page lists 350 mw of installed wind power in wyoming, but none are listed here?
http://www.awea.org/projects/projects.aspx?s=Wyoming lists them, what's the right way to copy them in?— Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.213.158.80 (talk) 16:40, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
- Just add them. I see only one over 120 MW. 199.125.109.33 (talk) 13:55, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
120 MW threshold
[edit]Just wondering why you have removed the edits to include a few wind farms less than 75MW? It is subject to call large 120MW or more. I have some good information and plan on adding more content for a few wind farms less than 120MW. Can we coordinate on this or should i make a new page for "Medium" wind farms? Thanks. Bosox4duke (talk) 22:20, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
- We certainly don't need a new page. The 120 MW cutoff helps to keep the page manageable. Why are you focusing on smaller wind farms when there is so much more that could be done with the larger, more notable, ones? Thanks. Johnfos (talk) 22:14, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
- 75 MW is noteable, who are you to decide what's notable!!!
I spent much time trying to find the wind farms in my state because they were not on the list. Once I found them, I started to add the missing wind farms to this list. They were deleted. I spent time trying to improve this article and resent my work being "declared" irrelavent. Why someone wants to draw a line at 120 MW is beyond my comprehension. If the list gets to long it can be easily seperated into states. Until then, the work should continue here. The "owner" should not "proclaim" his/her "opinion" to limit this to 120 MW. The list will probably not be too long (or unmanagable to whom?) until, pehaps, farms of 50 MW are included. There is nothing wrong with a long list on a very simple article. It's a small file size compared to many Wiki articles.172.162.254.161 (talk) 11:18, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
- Placing those entries within a list in the Wind power in Illinois article would be a good thing to do. That's what people are doing for the smaller wind farms in many states. You could also add additional information about each wind farm, such as the manufacturers, and when it was completed. If all the smaller wind farms in Texas, Iowa and Minnesota were added, the size of this list would already be nearly doubled. People just don't want to wade or sort through long lists. And anything longer than a couple of screen lengths is a long list. --71.214.221.153 (talk) 22:48, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
Proposing to Up Threshold
[edit]Currently there are some 90 projects on this list. It is likely that in a few months time the list will grow to over 100 entries. I'm proposing to up the threshhold a bit to 140 MW (or maybe more) to avoid the list growing so long as to become unwieldy and make the qualifier 'large' rather meaningless. It's not unusual for newer projects to come in at 200MW or better. Projects under the threshold can be placed on a list for their respective state. --71.214.221.153 (talk) 23:28, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
- Disagree. I think people want to see all the wind farms for their states. Do you want 50 charts, one article list for for every state? What would be wrong with 200 or 300 wind farms on the list? If you keep increasing the MW than Texas will be about the only state with wind farms. The idea is size to proportional to the population in an area with some overcapcity to feed neighboring if the wind is not blowing. Smaller is often better with shorter tranmsission lines. 172.162.254.161 (talk) 11:49, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
- I would be in favour of increasing the threshold to 140 MW, to keep this list manageable. Johnfos (talk) 19:58, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
- I would much prefer that each state have its own list of noteable wind farms than listing them all here. This is an encyclopedic listing, not a database of wind farms. People get overwhelmed with too much information. Filtering out the unwanted excess is what most people want. --71.214.221.153 (talk) 22:22, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
I'd like to clarify that I wasn't intending that this be done right away. I posted here to give people some weeks of time to provide comments before any changes would be made.
User 172.162.214.161 above has a valid comment about how the list could come to be dominated by just several states. I'd be willing to accept an entry of the single largest capacity windfarm from a state even though it would normally be excluded because of minimum size - but I would still want a minimum size restriction on these, maybe like 50 MW.
Also as offshore windfarms are likely to be uncommon for a few years yet, maybe these should be allowed to be listed at somewhat smaller capacities. Rarity makes them notable. --71.214.221.153 (talk) 22:22, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
Threshold raised to 160 MW
[edit]But there are still plenty of wind farms on the list. The criteria still allows wind farms of size greater than 120 MW if they are one of the largest three in a state. In about a year (2013) the criteria should again be reviewed to determine if further restrictions are warranted. --Aflafla1 (talk) 21:04, 3 February 2012 (UTC)
Threshold raised to 180 MW for states with many large wind farms (Texas, Iowa)
[edit]As of mid 2015, raising threshold to 180 MW for states with 12 or more wind projects on the list. Still plenty on the list. --Aflafla1 (talk) 15:48, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
Titan Wind Project
[edit]The first 25 MW has been completed, but this project is still mostly 'proposed'. Completion of the project will likely be only after the transmission grid has been expanded (read after 2020). Right now, and until at least 200 MW have been completed, I've got no problems keeping the project on the Proposed list. But I'm wondering how to handle (this project in particular) what and where to list an in progress project that is still mostly incomplete, and will remain so for quite a number of years. --71.214.221.153 (talk) 20:54, 19 March 2010 (UTC)
Ironwood location error
[edit]The Ironwood windfarm is in Kansas, but the given geographic coordinates place it in Manitoba, Canada. — Aetheling (talk) 15:39, 4 November 2012 (UTC)
