Missing sub
[edit]Please add K-129 to list. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.117.153.112 (talk) 20:43, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
- This is a list of nuclear powered subs. K-129 was a Golf-class boat, i.e. it was carrying nuclear missiles, but was not nuclear-powered. -- DevSolar2 (talk) 00:58, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
The ugly map
[edit]I worked hard to pinpoint each sub on an appropriate map, but I had to search for one that showed the Arctic Ocean that included the northern coat of Russia. What you see is a nice map of the Atlantic followed by an ugly map of the Arctic. Someone could possibly fix this if a better map exists. I like to saw logs! (talk) 05:34, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
Info on USS Scorpion contradicts itself.
[edit]In the third paragraph of the lede it says:
Only USS Scorpion's reason for sinking is unknown
but then in the article body under the entry for the Scorpion it says:
USS Scorpion... sank May 22, 1968, evidently due to implosion upon reaching its crush depth. Scorpion suffered a Torpedo "Hot Run" (which is a torpedo running still inside the submarine). The Submarine attempted to turn 180 Degrees (which would initiate the shutdown interlock). The weapon exploded inside the Submarine causing it to sink
So which it is? Unknown, or due to a torpedo problem? Herostratus (talk) 20:30, 20 September 2017 (UTC)
- Well? Herostratus (talk) 18:29, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Herostratus: I was going to suggest that you look it up and tell us, but then I got curious and did a little research myaelf; 1) it seems many sources on the subject all agree with the US Navy that the reasons for Scropion's loss are currently unknown, and 2) the conflicting text that you took issue with was removed back in April 2018. fyi - wolf 01:45, 3 March 2023 (UTC)
- Yeah I saw that now, and I did read the article and you're correct, altho there was an article by a legit newspaper that said released documents indicated a torpedo exploding. But I don't know how much creedence to give that, plus you'd think that the bow would have been somewhat blown up and it isn't. Herostratus (talk) 03:38, 3 March 2023 (UTC)
