Richie McCaw
[edit]Why has Richie McCaw been removed? It lists Brian O'Driscoll as 1st = but then jumps to 3rd place for the next person. No mention of who Brian O'Driscoll is even with. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.234.101.71 (talk) 00:18, 15 August 2015 (UTC)
Olivier Magne
[edit]Is there an alternative official source for Magne's caps? As far as I can see he should have 89 caps rather than 90. The FFR website has screwed up and has counted the match v Wales on 28/08/1999 twice. --Travis Basevi (talk) 04:00, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
British and Irish Lions
[edit]Just a question about the Lions. I agree Lions play Test matchs, but if we count the Lions, don't we have to count too the Barbarians and the NZ Maori if one or more players of this list had a cap with ? 86.206.238.8 (talk) 21:14, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
Structure modification
[edit]I think the article needs a major restructuration. The main list should contain the players having appeared 100 or more caps, not 90. Indeed, when a player earns his 90th cap it is hardly considered a milestone (no press coverage, etc.), but when he earns his 100th it is different.
This would unfortunately move the inactive players with 90-99 caps out of the article (Ibañez, Charvis, Blanco, Johnson, Llewellyn, O'Kelly, Fitzpatrick, Jenkins and Underwood). Of these, Blanco, Fitzpatrick and Underwood could be mentioned in the note about amateur players.
Also, the secondary list's criterion is arguably correct. Only this year the following players are likely to complete 80 test matches: Mirco Bergamasco, Dan Carter, Paul O'Connell, Joe Worsley, Mario Ledesma, Dwayne Peel, Salvatore Perugini, Fabio Ongaro, Sergio Parisse, Martin Castrogiovanni and Donncha O'Callaghan. With this many players, by the end of 2011 the main list would have 33 players and the secondary one 21.
I think the best would be to leave the main list with players over 100 and the secondary list of players with 90-99 caps. This would make roughly 20 and 10 players in each list.
I would like to leave this on the discussion page before actually changing the article. Please comment. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.56.60.109 (talk) 12:57, 11 March 2011 (UTC)
I can't see the point of the secondary list 'players nearing 90 caps'. I'm happy with 1 list of players over 90 caps - which is already over 50 of them.Pwimageglow (talk) 12:51, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
As a first step toward cleanup and focusing this article - there seems to be consensus that the list of players approaching 90 caps serves no purpose with over 50 players already attaining over 90 caps hence that list is lengthy enough. Hence unless there is an objection I propose to remove the approaching 90 caps detail.Zebroski (talk) 15:00, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
- Makes sense - agree.Pwimageglow (talk) 15:05, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
Really disappointed to see the "Active players nearing 90 caps" Loved seeing which players were close to 90 caps, and how many. Don't like this page anymore because of that, Would of even liked a section "Active players nearing 90 caps" from 70 and 80's , Hope there is a change — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.62.254.201 (talk) 03:59, 16 March 2015 (UTC)

Changing the Page Structure
[edit]About a decade ago, it was decided that this page should include athletes with 90+ tests. It now seems to be the norm for world-class players to reach over 90 tests. Should the page's name be changed to "List of rugby union test centurions"?. There's a lot of players on this list compared to a decade ago, which kind of desensitises reaching 90 test caps to me. 100 test caps is still a great achievement though, as it's triple figures! When reaching 150 tests becomes the norm, in like 20 years, the page could perhaps be bracketed into sections, such as 100-109 tests, 110-119 tests and so on?

100+
[edit]Hi all,
The article as it stands lists those that have received 90+ caps for their country - is there a reason for this? Is a century not usually the defining milestone, especially as now more than fifty players have achieved this total should the list not be condensed to only centurions whilst offering interested users the chance to view a more complete list on ESPN Scrum?
I've also noticed that the user immediately before me requested a similar change though I'd disagree with the proposal to split the tables into 150+, 120+ etc. as it then defeats the point of the sortable table. Felixsv7 (talk) 14:17, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
Page title incorrect.
[edit]The page is titled "List of rugby union test caps leaders" where it needs to specify that it's from the men's game only (or include the list for the women's game too).
Suggest changing it to "List of men's rugby union test caps leaders", and putting a link near the top for those looking for the equivalent page for the women's game. Alasdairduncan3 (talk) 10:10, 22 March 2023 (UTC)
