Title

[edit]

I think this page needs to be moved. List of prehistoric cartilaginous fish may be more appropriate. There's no reason to disambiguate with "(Chondrichthyes)" in the title. I would have moved it, but I thought I'd suggest it here first. Cheers, Rkitko (talk) 01:17, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Thank you for the suggestion. :D Abyssal leviathin (talk) 22:26, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Article should be moved

[edit]

This page should be moved to List of cartilaginous fishes in the fossil record or something similar (the same with List of prehistoric bony fish and List of prehistoric jawless fish. Prehistory is generally defined as before recorded human history, which at its oldest was only 5,000 or so years ago. How many extant species were not around before then? -- Yzx (talk) 00:58, 3 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

We're using the definition of "prehistoric" as being "found in the fossil record"--Mr Fink (talk) 03:10, 3 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Why then does prehistory not mention fossils at all, and fossil not mention prehistory at all? Not disputing that the term "prehistoric" can be used to refer to "fossil record", but why settle for a less precise term for what the article is explicitly about? -- Yzx (talk) 03:26, 3 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
