[edit]

This list needs some serious work. Movies like Fantastic Four, Lord of the Rings, and Casino Royale are not remakes. They may be similar to previous works, but they ARE NOT REMAKES. Alot of the films listed here are adaptations of a book or a other item that a previous film was based on. Is the 2005 The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe truly a remake? It's based upon the book, not the previous movie. Plasma Twa 2 09:30, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. This page is a mess. I presume a number of new editors decided to add their contributions without reading the article first and without bothering to consider whether their additions actually improved the list. At least half of the entries should be removed. [EDIT] I have now tackled the column titles plus sections 0 through B. In addition to inappropriate entries, someone has got it in their head that entries in the second column do not require proper title formatting. I have only tackled this in the B section. 71.200.140.35 (talk) 04:32, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Remake... Original(s)

[edit]

Shouldn't it be Remake(s)... Original.

The way it is seems to imply... no, outright states... that all versions except the most recent are the original. Shouldn't it be that all versions except the first are remakes? Duggy 1138 22:21, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

agreed, but who on earth is going to sort through all of this and fix it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.45.154.133 (talk) 04:50, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Films based on novels

[edit]

A film such as Frankenstein should not be considered a remake of an earlier film since it's based on the actual novel, not the 1931 film. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.123.69.81 (talk) 16:16, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. The Remake page is very clear on this. However, the OR becomes a problem. Duggy 1138 (talk) 02:37, 15 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I had the very same thought. When I saw it was brought up here a decade ago I was surprised that they were still there. My disabilities force me to limit my WP editing time (just typing this is making my arm hurt), otherwise I'd remove them myself. —Kitsunegami (talk) 01:49, 30 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Conan the Barbarian (2011)?????

[edit]

Conan the Barbarian is a 2011 film remake of the 1982 original film. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lmouraquaresma (talkcontribs) 12:48, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Metropolis remake

[edit]

Hi, wouldn't Metropolis (2001) fall under this list as it's based on Metropolis (1927)? I know it's not technically a remake since it claims basis on the Osamu Tezuka manga of the same name, but the plot of the remake is more similar to the 1927 movie than it is to the manga, and it's almost exactly alike to the 1927 movie. At least take it into consideration. 198.45.223.105 (talk) 01:54, 12 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup

[edit]

@Clarityfiend: I appreciate you're trying to improve this page, but many of the edits on the tables seem to have resulted in it breaking up and becoming very messy in several places. Maybe we should use a sandbox or a draft page to try to fix all the table issues before it goes into article space?★Trekker (talk) 12:19, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I use the notes field (or rather lack thereof) to keep track of the entries I haven't checked yet. Clarityfiend (talk) 05:50, 2 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
