Page statistics
[edit]This list was created on 11 April 2007 with the title List of dramatic television series with LGBT characters. In September 2019, it was split due to page size (431,613 bytes).
The first half became "List of dramatic television series with LGBT characters: 1970s–2000s", and the second half became "List of dramatic television series with LGBT characters: 2010s". On 26 February 2021, the "1970s–2000s" was changed to "1960s–2000s".

Table layout
[edit]This list (the first of the dramatic tv series lists) is a little different because there were so few series in the 1970s and 1980s, that creating a separate section for each individual year of the 70s and 80s didn't make sense; therefore, series for these two decades were listed together as a block under each decade. But this, in turn, made the placement of "Year" as the first column somewhat confusing (e.g. 1984 appeared before 1981 because CBS Schoolbreak Special [alpha "C"] premiered in 1984, and Dynasty [alpha "D"] premiered in 1981). So to mitigate any confusion, I changed the Year column to the last column. Now when a reader sees this list, the first detail they see is the name of a 1970s and 1980s series. To harmonize the entire list, the Year column in each section was also moved. Pyxis Solitary (yak). L not Q. 09:21, 29 January 2021 (UTC)

Tatort entry is misleading
[edit]The German TV series Tatort isn't a single TV series, but rather a collection of feature films. They can be grouped into sub-series by detective teams most of the time, though. The problem is that all of the characters mentioned here weren't introduced in the 70s, but much later:
- Rubin and Karow first appeared in 2015.
- Flückinger and Ritschard first appeared in 2011.
- Grosz was introduced alongside Falke in 2016.
- Linda Selb has only been a minor character so far (since 2016).
I am not sure where to put this information instead, though.

- Hmm. That's a tricky one, Chaosflaws. The page for Torort says "Tatort ("Crime scene") is a German language police procedural television series that has been running continuously since 1970 with some 30 feature-length episodes per year, which makes it the longest-running German TV drama...When Tatort was developed as a series of weekly feature film-long local crime stories, the stated concept was used to distribute financial and organizational efforts...Apart from the unique joint-pooling system, the series is also characterised by the episode length of around 90 minutes, which allows for more in-depth and psychological fleshing out of the characters." So maybe it could go on List of feature films with LGBT characters too? It sounds like it a TV series, but also a collection of feature films? That article isn't the best sourced, but that's what I'm getting from it. Maybe adding a note that the characters appeared more recently, as you note, would be a good idea so people aren't confused in the process. Historyday01 (talk) 17:15, 4 May 2021 (UTC)
