I think the best example of this is the entry for "bang". "Banged up", as in being worked hard or injured, is a generic (American?) English slang, not specifically a baseball term. A "bang up game" is "exciting" or "close? Funny, I've heard quite the opposite, many times. In my experience a bang up game is a relatively quick game, easily won. Again, no reference. "Bang bang play", I've heard it many times, though in reference to a beautifully executed double play where the outs happen in fast, smooth and often seemingly effortless succession. Again, no reference. But the most ridiculous is saved for last, "banging me inside". Perhaps on that day Scherzer was standing behind Giavotella... pitching. One person, Giavotella, has apparently said this. Google for 'baseball "bang me inside"' or even try variations and the only clear Google hit is the article referenced here. A single mediocre ball player who made $2m in 7 years saying something during an interview does not make an encyclopedic entry. Yeah, my experience doesn't make me an authority either. But if I were to add anything here, I'd be sure to treat this page like it was part of an encyclopedia. Jyg (talk) 03:40, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
