Merger proposed (Mathsoc)

The result was: Merge Mathsoc into List of Trinity College, Dublin student organisations, by silent consensus. --B. Wolterding 18:30, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I propose to merge the content of Mathsoc into here, since the notability of that article has been questioned. The article doesn't cite any independent sources, and I think it can't stand as a seperate article in view of WP:ORG. But the content might well be merged into here.

Please add your comments below. Proposed as part of the Notability wikiproject. --B. Wolterding 12:46, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

TES notability

[edit]

Removed paragraph on TES. Was written in the wrong style referring to "our mission" and is very probably copied not original writing for Wikipedia. External citations would help prove notability as it is a more modern society, not a long established society like the Theo/Hist/Mathsoc. -- Horkana (talk) 21:50, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Trinity Entrepreneurial Society

[edit]

The Trinity Entrepreneurial Society is a student organisation representing Trinity College students who promote entrepreneurship on campus. TES holds a variety of events on campus throughout the academic year including: a speaker series of successful entrepreneurs, a share trading game, skill workshops, internship and career evenings, with our biggest event planned for 2008/09 to be the Trinity Enterprise Competition. Our mission is to foster an innovate and entrepreneurial spirit among the student body on campus.

Oldest Largest Bestest

[edit]

I notice this article has expanded recently and there is a tendency for Trinity students to want to edit this page and write favourable things about their preferred societies. I write here in the hope that it will help others objectively evaluate if what has been written is of adequate quality and suitably objective. The Phil and Hist often dispute which society is oldest, the Phil having been founded earlier but the Hist having had a longer uninterrupted history. This matter is usually stated fairly but is something to be aware of when evaluating the correctness of the articles. Also many students societies claim to be "one of the biggest societies" which is terribly vague even if numbers are cited and only measures the number of students they were able to convince to sign up during Freshers week rather than any particular measure of their success. Referencing the annual society of the year awards is probably the most objective way for an encyclopaedia to give appropriate praise to a society, assuming citations are made to one of the college newspapers (Trinity News, University Record) or some other appropriate source. -- Horkana (talk) 11:21, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
