Requested move 18 November 2020

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: (1) To change from Top to top (2) To change from the list of top [#albums/singles] in [year] (Australia) to list of top [#albums/singles] for [year] in Australia (3) To move the two entries towards the bottom with date ranges from "1980–89" to "1980–1989". – Top or top, there should be some kind of consistency. (CC) Tbhotch 22:33, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment: Do you have any take on which way it should fall? It seems like the sort of problem where sometimes the term, "Top 40" (for instance) is a proper noun, and treated as such, and at other times, they probably don't exist as lists anywhere outside of Wikipedia, so should certainly not be capitalised. Alternatively, are there other words that are less ambiguous, such as "best-selling," that might help? — HTGS (talk) 01:37, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. There are several things going on here. 1) All "Top" occurrences should be changed to "top". 2) When I follow the lingo I hear "for [year]" and never hear "in [year]". 3) Natural dab is better than parenthetical. So each entry that does not appear as:
    • List of top [# albums/singles] for [year] in Australia
should be renamed to that more consistent format. 4) The two entries toward the bottom with date ranges should be changed from "1980–89" to "1980–1989" per MOS:DATERANGE. P.I. Ellsworth  ed. put'r there 10:52, 26 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
