in the stargate timeline the date of March 2004 is listed as Henry Hayes' inauguration as President of the United States, and briefed about the Stargate programme. if SG-1 is in the "present/real world" then the date of March 2004 is wrong Jan. is when the President is inaugurated/sworn into office -
by an act of Congress, Inauguration Day is the day on which the President of the United States is sworn in and takes office.
It was originally held every four years on March 4 except the first inauguration for George Washington,
which was held on April 30, 1789.
The ratification of the Twentieth Amendment to the United States Constitution changed the beginning of the President and Vice President's terms to noon on January 20th, beginning with Franklin Roosevelt's second term in 1937. The next Inauguration Day will occur on January 20, 2009.
so unless the Stargate program takes place before 1937 then Pres. Hayes is became President due to The presidential line of succession because of one of the following events:
1. incapacity --- (not the case because he told the VP "my running mate new about it (Stargate) for years")
2. death --- (not the case because he told the VP "my running mate new about it (Stargate) for years")
3. resignation --- (not the case because he told the VP "my running mate new about it (Stargate) for years")
4. removal by impeachment -- (not the case because he told the VP "my running mate new about it (Stargate) for years")
the only other ways is by:
1. An amendment repealing the 20th Amendment, if this is the case then the phrase stargate takes place/based in the real world is incorect.
2. A military take over (Coup) of the United States, if that happend in stargate, Jack, Sam, Hammond etal would have been transfered to the ligitiment US military to fight in the 2nd US Civil War.
I live in the Washingtion DC METRO area and have personaly been to 3 inauguration 2 for Pres. Clinton,1993-2001 and Pres. Bush Jr, 2001, in my job Inauguration Day is a Federal holiday observed only by federal government employees who work in the District of Columbia; Montgomery or Prince Georges Counties in Maryland; Arlington or Fairfax Counties in Virginia, and from what i know about the reason for the holiday it's to relieve traffic, (if you never lived in the DC area traffic is BAD on a normal day on Inauguration day it's best to stay home or leave the area for the day)
Or it could just be a minor tweak to the timeline with the 20th Amendment never passing. It really wouldn't influence history at all if for whatever reason it failed, and frankly I don't recall Henry Hays being elected President of the United States in 2004 so there's a discontinuity anyway. It's a valid point but just one of those things, like everybody in the galaxy speaking English (or whatever the local dubbing may be).The Mink Ermine Fox (talk) 05:34, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Out of curiosity, why is there a lowercase "t" for Tau'ri in the page title? I would change it, but the article seems long enough that someone probably had a reason for doing it... -- Whitepaw19:35, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The page cites him as a Marine officer, which is true, yet the off-screen info talks about him in the USAF and flying the stealth fighter, an aircraft Marines dont use.
I removed a line from Col Simmons' section about how he rarely followed protocol, as he often wears business suits and rarely shows deference to Gen Hammond. This doesn't really mean anything. There are several organizations within the Air Force (the Office of Special Investigations and the Air Force Reserve come to mind) whose members routinely wear civilian attire rather than uniforms, and also several organizations w/in the AF (OSI and the Inspector General's office among others) where members are instructed to ignore rank in pursuit of their investigations. So the fact that Simmons doesn't usually wear uniform and doesn't normally defer to Hammond don't really mean a thing. It might just be something relating to what branch of the service he is with. Image:The Enemy Within.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
In the "Jack O'Neil clone" description, it reads "However, unknown to the SGC, he was captured by Ba'al and tortured for years until he was killed when an Ori ship attacked and destroyed the ship he was on".
Although my familiarity with every Stargate episode is anything but complete, I am pretty sure that this statement is false. If not, there should at least be a reference to an episode no? I ran several websearches and couldn't find anything that resembled a substantiation of this statement. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Psyche 003 (talk • contribs) 06:57, 26 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Per http://www.gateworld.net/news/2008/02/robert_picardo_joins_iatlantisi_.shtml, Richard Woolsey should not only be moved over to List of Tau'ri characters in Stargate Atlantis, but might get his own article per the current convention to give every main character of SG-1 and Atlantis his/her own article. Woosley has already been a significant recurring character in both shows, both character lists are long (should/could be trimmed in some places though for unnecessary plot), so I feel comfortable to give him his own article very soon. Real-world information should still be added to make the article comply with WP:FICT, but is probably easily available if the article of Vala Mal Doran is any indication. – sgeurekat•c19:15, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If Woolsey doesn't get his own page now he'll get one at the start of Season 5 when he takes over Atlantis so may as well be now. ≈ Seraph15:59, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've currently protected several pages, including this one, for three days in response to edit wars over non-free image use. Please try to resolve these issues through discussion and the dispute resolution process. Relevant discussion at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content#Edit-warring and elsewhere; please participate there instead of risking further page locks and user blocks. – Luna Santin (talk)03:36, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Warriman is referenced as being the highest-ranking NCO at the SGC by virtue of being ranked CMSgt. This is a logical fallacy in that it assumes there are no others CMSgts at the SCG with an earlier date of rank (DOR) than Chief Harriman. — pd_THOR|=/\= | 18:05, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You're right, and there was more original research added to his section this morning. It's going to get removed eventually, at the latest when I'll trim his section like the others, probably within the next week. There are at least one DVD feature and one audio commentary mentioning his rank, so I'll see what they have to say. – sgeurekat•c18:27, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Why do all the pictures represent the actors in a non-Stargate context? The article is about the characters, not the people who play them. If you're going to include pictures, make them in-universe. The pages as they stand now are as bizzare as if there was a picture of Harrison Ford with the fedora and bullwhip on a page dedicated to Han Solo. 147.9.234.83 (talk) 01:36, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
See WP:NFC. Generally (and this hasn't been applied to all SG characters yet due to editor time restraints), it's actor images or no images, unless you can find or take Free character images. – sgeurekat•c07:27, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
