Add date and make sortable
[edit]If anyone wants to improve this list, please add the date when the milestone was reached and make it a sortable list. Kappa 06:33, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
- One complication is we now have four lists. I'm thinking of suggesting that it be a single column for a couple of reasons. 1) The list can be made sortable. 2) The list will work better on narrow devices such as mobile phones. --Marc Kupper|talk 18:33, 10 September 2016 (UTC)
Jimmie Foxx RBI's
[edit]I add the reference because of the discrepancies in diffrent sources about the RBI total number for Jimmie Foxx. As the article says, MLB official number is 1,924. Someone changed the reference to A-Rod and that's not correct even though the article is about A-Rod, the reference is for clear the oficial RBI number for Foxx, so please don't change it anymore.--190.7.201.2 (talk) 15:59, 28 June 2012 (UTC)http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20120620&content_id=33633628&vkey=news_nyy&c_id=nyy
Numbers beside some players
[edit]Why do some current players (those in bold) have a number beside their name? For example, David Ortiz has the number 57 in brackets besides his name.

Ryan Howard
[edit]Can Ryan Howard be added to this list?

Numbers in parentheses beside active players?
[edit]What do the numbers in parentheses beside the active players denote? Gabe1972 (talk) 21:11, 23 April 2015 (UTC)
It's how many they have so far this season.Bbonds775 (talk) 04:25, 28 May 2015 (UTC)
Stuffy McInnis, Hack Wilson, and George Van Haltren
[edit]I double-checked that the list was consistent in terms of that the ranks and career RBI ascended as expected. Things were fine up until the rows for
rank Player Career RBI 239 Hack Wilson 1,063 Stuffy McInnis 1,062 241 Ryne Sandberg 1,061
My first thought was that the rank for Stuffy McInnis should be shown as 240 rather than blank as he has one less RBI than Hack Wilson and one more than Ryne Sandberg. However:
- baseball-reference.com shows both Hack Wilson and Stuffy McInnis at 1063 RBI.[1]
- espn.com shows both Hack Wilson and Stuffy McInnis at 1062 RBI.[2]
- The link in this article for mlb.com fails and I can't figure out how to navigate it to get a list similar to baseball-reference.com and espn.com.[3]
Can some of the primary maintainers of this page deal with this? I have no idea if you prefer baseball-reference or ESPN. It would be useful if the link for mlb.com worked.
There was one other data issue in the table is that George Van Haltren and Dusty Baker should both be rank 271 if we used the Career RBI numbers as shown in the Wikipedia table.
rank Player Career RBI 267 Rod Carew 1,015 Fred Clarke 1,015 Ralph Kiner 1,015 270 Wade Boggs 1,014 271 George Van Haltren 1,013 272 Dusty Baker 1,013 273 Hal Trosky 1,012
That one also turned out to be messy as we have George Van Haltren at 1013 RBI which does not match the numbers reported by either baseball-reference.com nor espn.com and the two sources don't agree either. The good news is the numbers for the other six players in the table above agree with both sources meaning we only need to focus on George Van Haltren (which ESPN lists as George Vanhaltren).
- baseball-reference.com has four players at 1015 including George Van Haltren.
- espn.com has George Van Haltren at 1014.[4]
Again, as editing this article is outside of my area of expertise can one of the regular editors deal with this? Thank you. --Marc Kupper|talk
