Katy Perry Songs
[edit]Some of the songs in this article are not really any of Katy Perry's songs. For example, the song Breakout has Katy Perry as a background singer, but that doesn't mean that is one of her songs. CPGirlAJ (talk) 22:41, 25 January 2012 (UTC)
Time's up
[edit]What about song Time's Up? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.114.167.117 (talk) 19:21, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
- I am not sure what song you are talking about. If you could provide a source or website telling us that it is a Katy Perry song, then please do. As of now, we don't have any proof that this is actually a song recorded/sung by her. CPGirlAJ (talk) 22:11, 4 November 2012 (UTC)
The pictures
[edit]In my opinion, putting the pictures at right of the list is not a good idea at all, because they're essentially decorative -- they don't really add key info to the article -- but as decorations, they're horrible. Putting them to the right of the list squeezes the list a lot and makes it hard to read, in particular the names of the writers when there're many, such that instead of
- Henry Walter
- Lukasz Gottwald
- Jordan Houston
- Katy Perry
- Max Martin
- Sarah Theresa Hudson
we have
- Henry Walter
- Lukasz
- Gottwald
- Jordan
- Houston
- Katy Perry
- Max Martin
- Sarah
- Theresa
- Hudson
Which is a lot harder to scan, and it's not clear if their is maybe a writer named "Theresa Hudson" and one named just "Sarah" or if there's a "Gottwald Jordan" in the somewhere or what. Objectively this degrades the presentation, so can we not do this? It's OK to have them come up after the list; this doesn't really add anything it doesn't hurt anything either I guess. An editor returned the pics to the right of the list though, so let's hear the argument on the other side. Herostratus (talk) 11:29, 18 November 2013 (UTC)
- It's not like that for me, so it must be that you either have a small screen computer or your screen resolution needs adjusting. Also, it's advised to have pictures during FAC. I've done enough of them. By the way, I'm not just "an editor", I'm an editor who spent a long time re-doing this list and it was me to successfully made it an FA. No one had a problem about where to put pictures at FAC. Look on any list for music songs or charts, they pictures are all on the right hand side. — ₳aron 11:36, 18 November 2013 (UTC)
- Oh OK, I get it -- we're seeing different things. I have a standard cheap laptop and 1366 by 768 which it says is the recommended resolution, but I have the default zoom set above normal. But I don't really have problems with any other pages here on Wikipedia. When I reset the zoom to default, stuff is way too tiny for me to read. Not everyone who reads our articles can read small text. Per Per WP:ACCESSIBILITY we're supposed to support resolutions down to 1024×768. Setting my res to 1024×768 gives about the same result as being at 1366x768 and zooming out four times, which is what I do, and gives the same broken appearance to the list of writers. Go to 1024×768 and see.
- I didn't mean anything negative by "an editor", I always say that when I don't have the name right at hand. "An editor" is an honorable thing to be! I essentially created the list (as a rescue operation after it had been speedy deleted, of all things) and so we're partners here, we just want to get it as good as possible. So how should we proceed here, I wonder.
- We could ignore the issue. For all I know very few readers are at 1024×768 or the functional equivilant. WP:ACCESSIBILITY says to support 1024×768 and that counts for something, but we're not rules-bound so I'm not a stickler for that. On the other hand maybe a significant fraction of readers are at 1024×768 or the functional equivilant. In my day the operative paradigm was "as screen resolutions continue to get better, we can start to ignore the old low res screens", but that's a dead letter now I think. Phones and mini tablets aside, it's a matter of what size text you can read. Perry'll be 30 in another year and her fans aren't getting any younger either, and you start to loose visual acuity in your thirties.
- Or we could drop one of the columns. The "References" column could probably be dropped and the ref just tagged on after the song title in the "Song" column. If you give that real estate to the "Writers" column you're maybe good to go.
- Or we could move the pictures. Or maybe something else I haven't thought of.
- Thoughts? Herostratus (talk) 13:04, 18 November 2013 (UTC)
- I know what you mean by pictures sometimes looking as though they are interfering with text or tables, as I have a 13 inch MacBook Pro as well as a 27 inch iMac. Obviously, on the MacBook, the screen is smaller so things are bunched up a bit more. But on my iMac, there are often huge white spaces. But even on my MacBook, I don't have the problem that you are having. Don't take this rudely, but no one else has said that they have technical problems with writers surnames going onto the next lines solely because of the pictures, or at all, for the matter, and I highly doubt that you spent the majority of your time on Wikipedia looking at this one article. There's no point having the pictures under the table, as the pictures actually appear order of who is mentioned as a featured artist first, second etc. in the table. The columns default to be as wide as whoever has the longest name, whichever album has the longest title etc. If you went a different computer, you probably wouldn't he experiencing surnames on the line below. — ₳aron 16:04, 18 November 2013 (UTC)
- Well, OK. I still don't like it, but you did the work to take the article to featured status (and thank you! The original version I did was less good, with a separate table for each letter of the alphabet, which is clunky) so I'll defer to your judgement, I guess. I did post a suggestion about this (the general issue, not this article) at Wikipedia talk:Featured list candidates. Herostratus (talk) 01:44, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

re "Goodbye for Now"
[edit]An editor removed ""Goodbye for Now" which had been credited to P.O.D. featuring Katy Perry on the grounds of "she's not officially credited". The ref is the liner notes ({{cite AV media notes|title=[[Testify (P.O.D. album)|Testify]]|others=[[P.O.D.]]|year=2006|type=liner notes|publisher=[[Atlantic Records]]|id=}}) which aren't online, so I'm not sure if the editor is saying the liner notes don't actually mention Perry, or that they to but that this does not qualify as "official credit". If it's the former, fine, but if it's the later, so what? The question is did Perry sing the song or not? If she did then it should be listed and we can keep looking til we find an interview or something that proves that. If it's disputed that Perry actually sang the song then it shouldn't be listed though. Herostratus (talk) 15:58, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
- She was briefly featured as a backing vocalist, and backing vocalists often go uncredited. Chances are it was removed because of that. XXSNUGGUMSXX (talk) 16:17, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
- As Snuggums said, she only performs backing vocals for a few seconds at the end of the song and isn't credited as a featured performer. S△M talk 16:17, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
- OK. That's reasonable. Thanks for the clarification. Herostratus (talk) 23:30, 1 April 2014 (UTC)

Cover editions
[edit]Should her covers of songs like Sam Sparro's "Black and Gold" and The Outfield's "Your Love" be included when recorded onto a CD/EP/album/etc.? Snuggums (talk / edits) 02:49, 25 January 2015 (UTC)

Writers for Witness song
[edit]They sources link to iTunes, which doesn't give the names of song-writers. — Calvin999 08:22, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
- Once purchased, the song credits can be accessed. A note could be added to the citation if needed. Snuggums (talk / edits) 12:49, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
- Yeah but that isn't now. Where are the sources for those writers? — Calvin999 09:22, 23 May 2017 (UTC)
Bonus tracks for Witness
[edit]Katy Perry also has two bonus tracks on the Deluxe version of her Witness album. They are called Act My Age and Dance With the Devil. 173.179.143.145 (talk) 00:43, 13 June 2017 (UTC)

If this list included all of the leaked songs, it would be and endless list just like lana del rey cases where she has 300 leaked songs. wikipedia stated once ONLY RELEASED songs. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.121.153.81 (talk) 15:11, 26 May 2018 (UTC)
