Notice about Super Mario film directors
[edit]Some sites have started to report that Michael Jelenic and Aaron Horvath are set to direct the Mario film adaptation, based on an unnamed animator's LinkedIn page. So I want to say that this kind of information is still WP:OR and CRYSTAL, there is no hurry to add this info and we should better wait until Universal announces the official crew. -Gouleg🛋️ harass/hound 18:13, 26 August 2021 (UTC)
- As promised, habemus crew -Gouleg🛋️ harass/hound 13:07, 24 September 2021 (UTC)
Migration announced as a musical and recieves a G rating.
[edit]After pushing the release date to December 22, 2023, Migration will be announced as a musical with score and songs written by Danny Elfman and will be the first Illumination movie to be rated G by the MPA. Animation231 (talk) 01:39, 9 July 2022 (UTC)

Table
[edit]So about the table, i feel a little uncomfortable with the writters and trying to adjust the size on Safari in a window space. i wanna make it different than what Pixar or DreamWorks has. Directors, Producers, and Composers. it helps better while notes on Lorax and Grinch are based on books by Dr. Seuss. BMA-Nation2020 (talk) 16:36, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- But do you have a good motive to get rid of the writers in these tables? edit: the best I can suggest is to merge both Story by and Screenplay by credit in a same column, I personally don't think clarifying the Dr. Seuss adaptations is necessary -Gouleg🛋️ harass/hound 16:42, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- A little. It’s too cramped and has the same writers from before. Just in different projects. Trying to fix it up without making it too cramped than Pixar. I kinda mirror it to the list of DreamWorks Productions as a counterpart since Chris Mel was invvoled in Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. BMA-Nation2020 (talk) 19:40, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- Dreamworks should have writer column then, don't see why composer is more notable than writer Indagate (talk) 19:50, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- a composer has more work on the film than a writer. when the story is made, music have to play apart of it. inlcuding songs and more. having too much columns would be uninteresting for the viewer. less columns help make more sense. BMA-Nation2020 (talk) 19:54, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- But how can the music be produced if theres no story to ambient with it? Even the average Joe should know that films usually have a director, producer and writer -Gouleg🛋️ harass/hound 20:01, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- we don't need writers invovled. we keep it like that and no more making it cramped. BMA-Nation2020 (talk) 20:02, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- Not your sole decision, 2 and status quo against you right now. Writers are important to a film, they are covered in reliable sources. Indagate (talk) 20:05, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- i know but it felt like it's not right. i'm trying to do what's best for the people. BMA-Nation2020 (talk) 20:06, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- We're all editing for what we think is best Indagate (talk) 20:12, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- i just wanna make something new and fresh, that's all. not to make an edit war over it. BMA-Nation2020 (talk) 20:13, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- That's understandable, Wikipedia isn't always about what's new and fresh, some things are established for a reason. You're already edit warring over it though, the status quo should remain until consensus for bold edit Indagate (talk) 20:18, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- (ec) This is my proposal if BMA is so keen in keeping tables compact, I've merged the writer credits -Gouleg🛋️ harass/hound 20:19, 18 July 2022 (UTC)

- i don't like it. too stuffed up. BMA-Nation2020 (talk) 20:20, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- Looks alright to me, if anything should go it's composer column Indagate (talk) 20:21, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- it doesn't for me. other columns like this is used for franchises like Descpiable Me or Pets. sometimes not the production list. BMA-Nation2020 (talk) 20:22, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- I'd vote to have the Distributor column removed, all but one film have been distributed by Universal -Gouleg🛋️ harass/hound 20:25, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- nope. we're keeping it since It's also labeled as co-production. BMA-Nation2020 (talk) 20:25, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- Sure, easily one sentence before table Indagate (talk) 20:27, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- Also, first column with numbers seem redundant, the films aren't connected and easy to count, can include the total in prose Indagate (talk) 20:28, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- no, no, we're keeping it. Hop was co-produced by realtivy media. the mario movie is co-produced by Nintendo. BMA-Nation2020 (talk) 20:28, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- I suggest then have a Notes column which clarifies these films are co-productions -Gouleg🛋️ harass/hound 20:29, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- no. we're keeping it like that and that's final. no more changes to it. i only wanted to update the list, not to make things worse. BMA-Nation2020 (talk) 20:30, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- You can't say what's final, you made a bold edit, can't stay when two disagree and no one else agrees Indagate (talk) 20:32, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- it is final. it's not a bold edit, it's a minor one. BMA-Nation2020 (talk) 20:32, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- It's a pretty big edit to the reader. Composers can be left to individual articles, not important. Language like "final" makes me want to report you for WP:OWN Indagate (talk) 20:34, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- i propose we keep it like it was. BMA-Nation2020 (talk) 20:36, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- "Like it was" as in with writers? Indagate (talk) 20:37, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- nope. just directors, producers and composers. different than it was from DreamWorks or Pixar. Either list is different from one to another. and i wanna make this one different that stands out to the others. BMA-Nation2020 (talk) 20:39, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- Why should a list "stand out"? This is an encyclopedia, not a magazine Indagate (talk) 20:40, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- Most live-action and animated films share the same credits of director, producer and writers, why are you so invested in wanting to make a different table for each studio? -Gouleg🛋️ harass/hound 20:41, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- I'm not thinking it as a magazine. i'm thinking it as a variety of instruments being used to make the films happen. and like a puzzle as well, i really wanna make things different around here to clean up. make some good sense and not start wars like this. i'm sorry for causing the trouble but it stays like it is. it's not a bold edit but it's a standard edit to make it perfect. Phew, hope no one minds the outdent. Personally I didn't think it was too much data before, but if we're interested in a change, I rather like Gouleg's suggestion. Also, BMA-Nation2020, this is Wikipedia, which is a collaborative venture. You don't get to unilaterally decide if something is "final" or not, and that sort of mindset isn't helpful to collaboration. NekoKatsun (nyaa) 20:42, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- Merging the writer credit or getting rid of the distributor? or both? -Gouleg🛋️ harass/hound 20:45, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- Both, but I particularly like the writer credit merging. Keeps more information while keeping it pretty neatly organized. NekoKatsun (nyaa) 20:50, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- Sounds good to me too, thoughts on removing the first column as the films aren't connected so seems redundant? Indagate (talk) 21:06, 18 July 2022 (UTC)

And i don't want a debate saying about this being a bold edit or something! THIS is fine! NO ONE NEEDS TO UNDO THE MESS I CAUSED. BMA-Nation2020 (talk) 23:47, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
Fixing this.
[edit]I can’t help it. I just can’t! Dr. seuss wasn’t credited for the story ies, he was credited for making the books. I don’t want this to happen again, i just wanted these tables to be dofferent from one to another. BMA-Nation2020 (talk) 16:05, 21 July 2022 (UTC)
Whatever happened to Nintendo Announcing Mario movie 2 being greenlit?
[edit]Should illumination announce the Mario movie sequel instead of Nintendo cause Nintendo is always overprotective with its IPs and just announced the legend of Zelda movie instead of Mario movie 2 since the Hollywood strikes have been resolved? 205.172.121.203 (talk) 20:22, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
New Illumination Films released by 2025
[edit]All new Illumination movies has been released by 2025. Sing 3 release date will be December 2025. 68.194.138.254 (talk) 14:13, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
Release Date for Sing 3
[edit]Release Date for Sing 3 will be December 2025. It will released on December 2025 before it’s 10th anniversary in 2026. 68.194.138.254 (talk) 14:28, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
However, untitled The Super Mario Bros. Movie sequel release date is April 3, 2026. So, Sing 3 release date might be 2029 or 2030.
No new Illumination film in 2025
[edit]Since Despicable Me 4 released on July 3, 2024 and untitled The Super Mario Bros. Movie sequel released on April 3, 2026. So, there will be no new Illumination movie next year. 68.194.138.254 (talk) 03:56, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
Untitled Pharrell Williams film
[edit]Random thought - is it possible that the "Untitled Pharrell Williams film" was actually the early stages of development for Piece by Piece? An actual source would obviously be needed to be sure, but it does seem at least possible given that Piece by Piece still ended up being under Universal (though if that was the case, it would have most likely started development as a non-LEGO animated movie given that Universal didn't have the LEGO rights yet in 2018). Alphius (talk) 07:35, 2 October 2024 (UTC)
- I 100% believe this. I also agree we need definitive confirmation that this untitled movie ended up being Piece by piece, there is also a -slight- chance Illumination helped with either animation or production -Gouleg🛋️ harass/hound (she/her) 14:18, 2 October 2024 (UTC)
Upcoming movie slate
[edit]This Twitter/X post, which I'm pretty certain is legitimate, shows a list of upcoming animated feature film projects in the works at Universal Studios and its subsidiaries, including listed Illumination titles like Fatsia and a Cut the Rope movie. Should we rely on this information? 2607:FEA8:6565:5200:5933:11E5:C968:7CE9 (talk) 20:37, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
- We only list movies that were announced on a reliable secondary source such as Variety or THR, this is simply a speculative list made by an user on Twitter (and personally I know most of these claims are scoured from Linkedin accounts of artists –which is basically WP:OR– unware that sometimes these projects don't move foward or are even work for a different project; I famously recall from this same person how they claimed Dreamworks was working on a new Puss in Boots movie but turned out that the person they saw this credit from was actually citing their work on The Last Wish, and changed their account from a news/update account to a regular one because of the backlash, sorry for the rant lol)
- I personally don't know how Fatsia was even tied to Illumination in the first place and the Cut the rope movie was announced more than 5 years ago, most of these previously announced projects are likely over at List of unproduced Universal Pictures animated projects -Gouleg🛋️ harass/hound (she/her) 21:19, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
