The result of the move request was: page moved. Armbrust The Homunculus 18:46, 26 November 2013 (UTC)
List of First Spouses → List of spouses of heads of state – While it is certainly sometimes used for other countries, especially in the American media, "First Spouse", or even "First Lady", is very far from being the universal title of spouses of heads of state, and is essentially an Americanism (and I'm not sure that "first spouse" is commonly seen even in America). The proposed title is far more NPOV and universal. I attempted to move it, but it was moved back by an editor who alleged that it was the common title in use worldwide. This is clearly not the case. -- Necrothesp (talk) 08:34, 19 November 2013 (UTC)
- strong oppose it may have started in teh USA but it is a common term in many such countryies today. (Especially the Americas). Spouse as opposed to Lady is to avoid the POV for female leasders. Now in a world of all male leaders, yes, I would agree to use tohe word First Ladies.
- Also the hed of state is the number 1 position in states and more so with itnernational relations. So just to pre-empt it this, First Spouses would not be heads of government anywhere. Using the term spouses of heads of state then would be needless and pointless as having no special value (we can not have spouses of all govt ministers). The notability is in the FIRST Spouse aspect. First Ladies Summit, thats the globalised aspect.
- Also youre move may have been BOLD but you should discuss it. And, btw, glasd you are doing so.(Lihaas (talk) 16:18, 19 November 2013 (UTC)).
- Nope, I am under no obligation to discuss what I saw as an uncontroversial move beforehand. If we discussed every move before we made it we would never get anything moved. I move many articles; very few of the moves are ever disputed.
- I am not disputing use of the specific term "first spouse", although it's not a commonly used term anywhere, but your assertion that the common term for the spouse of a head of state is the "first" anything. It isn't. It's an American term that has spread to a few other countries, but is actually used, even semi-officially, in very few. The American media often use the term "first lady" to refer to the wives of presidents elsewhere, but that doesn't mean anything. They're just applying their own term to other countries; if we were to do so too that would not be WP:NPOV. To refer to, say, the Duke of Edinburgh as the "first spouse" is laughable, although he is clearly the spouse of the head of state. -- Necrothesp (talk) 17:33, 19 November 2013 (UTC)

- Strong support. Nobody ever is referred to as such; as such, the better term would be the more matter-of-fact title proposed. Red Slash 23:46, 19 November 2013 (UTC)
- Support. The current title is a neologism, Wikilogism, and/or unclear term. The proposed title is a clear description of the subject matter. — AjaxSmack 03:05, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
- Strong Support - The current title is inaccurate, unclear and confusing. Per WP:NAMINGCRITERIA the proposed title is Recognisable, Natural, Precise, Concise and Consistent. --Rushton2010 (talk) 01:46, 21 November 2013 (UTC)

- Heres more [1] and there are plenty more with a simple google search
- Yet despite the idiotic move the text was made to still say first spouse [2]
- And as the links show it is it NOT solely us usageLihaas (talk) 18:55, 7 December 2013 (UTC)
- Moves made after an RM discussion are not to be unilaterally changed back by one editor unhappy at the change. I have moved back and changed the wording back. Do not change it again. -- Necrothesp (talk) 22:05, 7 December 2013 (UTC)
