[edit]There has been concern raised that some of the centers listed on this page may not actually exist. All of the page's sections need to be verified to make sure that the listed centers are real ones. Grutness...wha? 23:28, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
I went over the list and took out a few fake ones out of my memory. And it should be pretty clean now. JTLikesMallory —Preceding undated comment was added at 03:20, 8 January 2009 (UTC).
ICAO list
[edit]The previous list was totally uncited and ad hoc. I've now put in the official ICAO list of FIRs and their Centers with the reference. -- 128.46.119.2 (talk) 20:52, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
Unfortunately, that link is no longer valid. Tested 4 July 2013 23:11, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
Try this maybe? Pikalax 18:59, 12 January 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pikalax (talk • contribs)
about individual air traffic control center articles
[edit]Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Houston Air Route Traffic Control Center was closed no consensus. This was in contrast to an earlier but still recent AFD (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/New York Air Route Traffic Control Center) which led to delete decision for a comparable place. Hey, to User:Reywas92 and User:Roysmith, could we please discuss how to proceed. Your goodwill (and I hope mine) about proper development is apparent. I would like to avoid a bunch of future AFDs, one by one. Instead could we work out something more appropriate, perhaps development along the lines in my comments in this just-closed AFD. No one commented after I did. --Doncram (talk) 01:24, 27 January 2019 (UTC) Ping User:RoySmith. --Doncram (talk) 01:26, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
- I'd still support a merge of some sort. Area control center has a map of the centers so maybe there could be a US-specific list with more details on each center without needing separate articles (or a global one is welcome too). The list of all the airports served really isn't good notable content, a main list could give the regions it covers. And then there's not much else left in the article. Still can't find any substantive sources for the Houston Center that these are actually individually notable. I didn't see the original NY article but none of the sources presented in the AFD are in-depth or specific enough for notability for it in particular rather than air traffic control in general. - An improved list-article with good map would be good to have, certainly. I'm not sure about lists of cities. For articles about small regional airports, it seems relevant to mention that their air traffic control is done via a tower that is in Denver, hundreds of miles away or whatever, then it seems appropriate to have a category of airports served by Denver ATC, then it seems appropriate to have a list-article listing the airports served. Perhaps a compact list of airports served, perhaps using the 3-letter airport codes, be included in the row for each control center in a table in List of Area Control Centers? --Doncram (talk) 18:05, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
- Yeah, I like that idea! Looking at the other articles, most of it is the same general description that can easily be condensed. The areas in the Minneapolis article doesn't really seem appropriate for an encyclopedia: not meaningful to a non-pilot audience, and pilots certainly aren't going to be relying on Wikipedia for this. geographic re-organization
[edit]Hey, this should be organized by geographic regions, not alphabetically. IMO. --Doncram (talk) 01:34, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
Move discussion in progress
[edit]There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:Area control center which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 00:31, 3 February 2019 (UTC)
