Primary usage

I have made this edit using Jackal (disambiguation) as a precedent. Two concerns though:

1. Is the third primary meaning ok?

2. I would like to create the redirect The lion, but am unsure if it should target Lion or The Lion

This doesn't really make sense. I see no valid reason for removing the entries in the "other uses" section, Lion (software) needs to be accompanied by a blue link according to the examples at MOS:DABRL, and LION is a legitimate secondary primary topic (having more than one is certainly not unheard of).
