Clarification needed
[edit]I've tried to make this section clearer without much success, Would someone with local knowledge look at it? (St. Marks closed in 1985)
<quote>Up to closure St. Marks was the mainline station with through services from Cleethorpes to London. Prior to closure of the Lincoln to Grantham line during the Beeching Axe, London services had used Lincoln Central station. Direct services were stopped with rail privatisation requiring a change of train at Newark North Gate. </quote> 86.141.232.150 (talk) 10:10, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- The last sentence refers to direct services from Lincoln in general to London, and is not specific to St Marks, which as you say, closed in 1985. --Redrose64 (talk) 10:53, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
External links modified
[edit]Hello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to one external link on Lincoln St. Marks railway station. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}}
after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}}
to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:
- Added archive https://web.archive.org/20070918101155/http://www.leytransport.i12.com/mark.htm to http://www.leytransport.i12.com/mark.htm
When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true to let others know.

Hykeham
[edit]Next station: Hykeham. Line closed, station open.
- The Wiki page on Hykeham station seems to indicate that it's the other way about. Can you clarify? Valetude (talk) 21:05, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Valetude: Let's consider that in two separate parts. First, Line closed - this refers to the whole of the route between Lincoln St. Marks and Hykeham, of which only a part (between Hykeham and Milepost 32) still carries passenger services - the line between Milepost 32 and St Marks station is closed and lifted, so it is not possible to run a passenger train between St Marks and Hykeham, so we consider that the line as a whole is closed (even though just over 2+1⁄2 miles isn't). Second, station open - this refers to Hykeham railway station alone, which is certainly open, since trains from Hykeham to Nottingham are scheduled for tomorrow. So Line closed, station open is correct. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 22:53, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you, Redrose, for clarifying this. Valetude (talk) 23:17, 5 April 2017 (UTC)

Portico image
[edit]Here's a nice image of the portico that was used in the article until 2014. If it's added to the article text it appears disconnected at the bottom because the article is short and the infobox and line diagram quite large. We could replace the image in the infobox. On the one hand, I like using a picture with a train to illustrate a station but, OTOH, that platform could be almost anywhere while the portico is distinctive. Any thoughts?
