Is the style a late example of Streamline Moderne? There are definitely Art Deco-ish elements, but overall it's definitely not that, and also not International like most of its contemporaries and near-contemporaries. 2600:1004:B15C:AEEE:0:57:496A:2301 (talk) 02:01, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Opry

[edit]

I believe the L & C building to be the original home of WLAC (hence the call sign), which radio station recruited MANY East Tennessee country music stars from WNOX(?)'s "Midday MerryGoRound" for a show eventually renamed "The Grand Ole. Opry." In the early '70's, when I was a broke young man looking for a cheap way to entertain young ladies, we would often visit the observation deck on the roof of the L & C, where telescopes could be used for a dime to look out over the city, the river, Centennial Park, etc. Ragityman (talk) 19:47, 9 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I see from the Grand Ole Opry article that I was wrong about WLAC starting the Opry.
