Request for photographs
[edit]A newer article, on HMS Calypso (since 1916, named HMS Briton), would greatly benefit from the addition of photographs from her later career. The ship was a training vessel for the Royal Naval Reserve at St. John's in the early 20th century, and after she was sold, was towed round to Lewisporte and used as a storage hulk. The hulk was still in harbour in the 1960s, but then moved to Job's Cove near Embree and burned out. The hull is still there. See, Calypso (1883).
Images requested are:
- Calypso/Briton, in her present resting place. A truly spectacular image is here, but is copyrighted.
- A photograph of the anchor.
- Photographs showing Briton at Lewisporte Harbour in the 1950s or 60s.
Any assistance would be much appreciated.
