Potential subjects to add
[edit]- Truman's attitude to the Marine Corps, and subsequent turnaround of action to the point of adding CMC Shepherd to the Joint Chiefs. (Burrell 2006)
- Shepherd's role in fundraising for an Iwo Jima monument (Burrell 2006)
- Shepherd's post-USMC involvements in Marine Corps League, etc.

- Those are good bit's to add, also perhaps:
- should the Daishozen-Ji bell be mentioned, or is that more suited for the 6th Marine Division or VMI pages? NY times article amongst others
- His role in the more prominent recognition of the Marine Corps Birthday throughout the Corps?

Bronze Plaque with Diploma Commemorative Especial
[edit]Why was this linked to the Order of the Southern Cross and the ribbon for the highest grade of that used for this? I haven't been able to find any connection between any Special Commemorative Diploma and the Order of the Southern Cross. I've de-linked it and replaced the ribbon with the "no ribbon" graphic.
Ideally this should be moved out of the ribbon display (as it's a diploma & plaque, not a ribbon award) but I'm not sure I have the wikipedia formatting confidence to do so. Perhaps move it to a section after the box's with other recognitions? It could be listed thusly alongside his commendatory letter from the Joint Chiefs of Staff (dated 15 Sept. 1959).

- A third could be the Marine Corps Historical Foundation's Distinguished Service Award "for numerous and substantial contributions to the history of the Marine Corps that span more than seventy years." (Fortitudine, pg. 11). Gecko G (talk) 02:22, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
- Never mind, I looked at it again and realized it would just be collum's of 4 the whole way. I was able to figure it out. Any thoughts on how it looks? Gecko G (talk) 02:35, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
