Sales

[edit]

Prism has sold 2,8 million copies in 2013 and 1,2 million copies in 2014 (source: IFPI). So it's 4 million copies worldwide, not 3 anymore. And US sales stand at 1,640,000 now....not 1,560,000 anymore!

Please see WP:No original research#Synthesis of published material that advances a position; we need a reference that explicitly gives a total figure. Snuggums (talk / edits) 13:34, 11 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I tried to put the right link here, but it didn't let me save the comment then. It's an article called "british artists score highest recorded share of global music sales". And US Sales are updated as of January 2015, but she had the Superbowl and Grammy performances. Album sales increased again, especially after Superbowl by 85% (Billboard dixit).

I found the article name you gave here, and while it does say Prism sold 1.2 million copies worldwide in 2014, we can't just simply add it to the 2.8 million IFPI 2013 report per the policy I linked in my previous comment. In other words, you'd need to find a source that explicitly says that Prism has sold 4 million copies worldwide for that figure to be included. As for US sales, where did you get the addition of 80,000 more copies sold? This says it sold 9,000 copies following the SuperBowl. I can't find any reliable sources for the 1,640,000 figure :/. Snuggums (talk / edits) 21:27, 11 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I got the US information from a forum called "ukmix", you can find a topic "Katy Perry - The PRISM Era" with all the updates so far! I mean....in the article i gave you there's well written "SOURCE IFPI". What else you need? Is it so difficult ---> 2.8 + 1.2=4 ? In every page there are many mistakes but you need "a source", then people post that and it's not enough because bla bla bla. What the hell!!!!!! And then i have to read that Taylor Swift and Rihanna are considered two of the best selling artists ever, near Mariah and Celine. And not because of their albums sales, but "record sales", while for people like Carey and Dion only albums are clearly counted! I really don't understand your "policy"!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.46.229.6 (talk) 20:57, 15 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Forums are not considered reliable sources. Also, a 2013 figure and a 2014 figure can't be combined to total them up when it sold additional copies in 2015. Snuggums (talk / edits) 21:31, 15 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I was right. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.32.76.201 (talk) 19:23, 4 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

PRISM was certified 4x platinum in the Philippines

[edit]

Katy received a 4X platinum award from MCA Music, Inc. (Universal Music Philippines) for the sales performance of her album Prism in physical and digital formats. Here are the sources:

Please include this. Thank you

The Philippines Recoding Association (PARI) does not list this certification. Untill and unless it is added there we cannot add it here. —Indian:BIO [ ChitChat ] 08:19, 4 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I want to add the new certifications on the page. I have a source for each one. For example, PRISM has gone platinum in Finland and this is the source.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CAaKF-TVAAA_yUU.jpg https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CAaKF-7VIAAHiPa.jpg from their universal music finland's official IG page https://instagram.com/p/0X2FQkt9DW/ (its on their official site http://universalmusic.fi/)

Can I please be allowed to edit? it's missing over 10 certifications — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lmaoperry (talkcontribs) 19:21, 9 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No, they are not from reliable sources. —Indian:BIO [ ChitChat ] 10:34, 10 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

HOW? they are from Universal Finland's official instagram which is on their official website and there's a picture of her holding the plaque. How is that 'not reliable'? You're the reason why Katy's PRISM page hasn't been updated in a long time. The album has around 29 certifications and all of them have sources but nothing is "reliable" to you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lmaoperry (talkcontribs) 20:25, 12 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Instagram is discouraged as a reference. It is best to directly cite certification database websites for certifications. Snuggums (talk / edits) 21:35, 12 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Most certification websites update like once a year and some don't even have a site. I am using reliable sources from OFFICIAL verified sources and you're denying them? please tell me how a OFFICIAL verified page might be fake? Enlighten me.

If anything, you're vandalizing PRISM's page since you're refusing to add the missing 10 certifications. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lmaoperry (talkcontribs) 19:22, 20 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Not including certifications isn't vandalism. Even if it takes a while for databases to update, we have to wait for them to post certifications. As for other links, it's often hard to tell which Instagram/Twitter accounts are actually run by the databases or their affiliates, and which ones are simply user-generated. A better substitute would be the publications listed at WP:WikiProject Albums/Sources if we can't get a direct link to databases themselves. Snuggums (talk / edits) 19:31, 20 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You're making 0 zero. Are you trying to imply that a verified page photoshopped a picture of Katy holding a plaque?

You do realize that a lot of album pages on Wiki don't use databases as references right? why are you denying an official verified page? your argument is weak and makes zero sense. All the recent Prism certifications were posted on official verified sources. You're just assuming here instead of investigating. A verified instagram/twitter page wouldn't post just any picture unless it's confirmed. They're a verified page for a reason, don't you think? Ever thought of that?

Those plaques were given to Katy when she visited countries during her Prismatic tour. I'm only being passive aggressive because it's unreal how some of you keeps rejecting confirmed sources. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lmaoperry (talkcontribs) 18:16, 27 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Keep writing and venting as much as you want, you have been answered that it won't be added unless it appears on official certifying bodies website. —Indian:BIO [ ChitChat ] 11:24, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Alright Mr. Smartass, do you want me to give you the wikis of albums that have certifications in them without using the database as a reference? You may as well do your job to clean the entire site. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lmaoperry (talkcontribs) 17:38, 1 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please read WP:NPA, write lines like above once more and I will make sure your editing privileges are taken away forever. —Indian:BIO [ ChitChat ] 19:48, 1 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Missing certifications

[edit]

Half of PRISM certifications are missing, most of them were given to Katy during The Prismatic World Tour. This is the complete list of the PRISM certifications and sales, all of them are official:

Remove malformed section, and this has already been explained that unless reliable certifying bodies are found they will NOT be added. —Indian:BIO [ ChitChat ] 18:13, 10 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Review ?

You may have noticed that Consequence of Sound gave the album a C+, but is that equal to a 3.5 stars? So a C is four stars then? --Arcachnar (talk) 10:27, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sales of prism

[edit]

The prism album by Katy Perry have sold more than 5 million pure sales worldwide and still not edited ! Album have also sold 500,000 copies in UK .I request you to unlock the editing as soon as possible Rehanxidrisix (talk) 04:32, 30 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I've noticed that you've been adding a lot of sales figures and no sources to support them. Please start providing the locations where you're getting these numbers or stop adding them. And, do not add them between referenced content and the content's reference. Walter Görlitz (talk) 05:34, 30 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This is Actually katy perry's 3rd album! In interview from 2014 she says that she considereds Prism her 3rd Album because her debut katy Hudson was flop and was under a different name.

Regardless of what sourcing one might provide, this is indeed Katy's 4th album and it's misleading to state otherwise. The Katy Hudson album being released under her formal surname as opposed to an alias has no bearing on the overall album count, and neither does sales. We shouldn't pretend like it counts for nothing. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 17:27, 12 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
