Syphilitic lesions??
[edit]I have "fact"-tagged this phrase: "a chain worn by women in France and Italy in the 16th century to hide the syphilitic lesions". I think the thing is that one woman wore the fashionable headband to hide such lesions and someone misinterpreted a source. This "factoid" is several places on the net but it's possible they are all drawing on this article. This needs further research. - PKM 02:42, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
- I have overhauled this article, which was not even spelled correctly: La Belle Ferronnière would be the correct title, but I was unable to move the article.--Wetman (talk) 00:43, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
Lucrezia Crivelli
[edit]She should probably be mentioned, as she is the supposed model. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 159.91.114.30 (talk) 21:30, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
- She is no longer thought to be Lucrezia Crivelli. The National Gallery London thinks that the model might be Beatrice d'Este. (2011 Exhibition Catalogue, Leonardo Da Vinci: Painter at the Court of Milan). Info incorporated into article. -Wikieditor54321, Feb.26, 2012
