I think it is notable that many Emirati scholars openly declare that the Sultan of Oman, Qaboos bin Said al Said, refuses to get married and have a child to carry the throne because he is gay. One such source which comes to mind is Richard Bulliet, Professor of History at Columbia University, who has stated both in lectures found on iTunes (History of the Modern Middle East) and via YouTube that the Sultan is gay. I suggest all the edits of 30 August 2024 should be deleted, as explained below:

Homosexuality ... "can be punished with a prison sentence of up to three years" changed to "[is] punishable by up to three years of imprisonment in the country."
- no meaningful difference
add {{cn|date=August 2024}}
- redundant, already addressed by {{unreferenced|section|date=August 2021}}
"This law is applicable to both men and women" changed to "The law is applicable to both men and women".
- no meaningful difference
"it has been suggested..." changed to "it was suggested"
- no meaningful difference
