2020 tiger incident

[edit]

In September 2020, a tiger was on the loose in Knoxville. A few times this incident has been added (with a citation) and removed; the users who removed it said in their edit summary that this incident was not related to the zoo. The incident, however, has connection to the zoo. The zoo said their tigers were all accounted for so there is connection. I'm leaving this comment for discussion on whether or not the incident should be included in this article. Cyber the tiger (talk) 18:51, 7 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Just because events happen, this does not automatically warrant inclusion on Wikipedia. Notability is a huge issue; this was just a fun throwaway blip of a week amidst the dreariness of Covid. The sighting in question was likely a bobcat per TWRA, and the zoo itself was not involved in any capacity beyond confirming their tigers were accounted for. A handful of businesses and media accounts immediately cashed in on the popularity for marketing, and everyone has since moved on. Even if the situation itself had a place on Wikipedia (which I don't think it does), this particular article is definitely not the right place for it. TNstingray (talk) 22:46, 9 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
