I'm not sure it can be done. I have long listed this article on my talk page as one of my favorite articles because "its lead is quite possibly the worst sentence ever written in the English language. I even wonder if it was written so badly on purpose, as a joke. I did think of trying to clean it up, but for now I am leaving it as the best example of its type I have ever seen - far exceeding the classic It was a dark and stormy night." --MelanieN
