Mayanalladevi

[edit]

@Utcursch: Madhusudan Dhaky, as per this article in Gujarati language, argues that Mayanalladevi (wife of Karna and mother of Siddharaja) is phonetic modification of original name. It was first written by Hemachandra in his work Dvashrayakavya and all subsequent works followed him. According to Dhaky, her original Kannada name was Mailal-devi. He cites examples of several queens in works and inscriptions of Karnataka whose spelling is Mailal-devi. Should we change it or add a reference note (no scholarly consensus so note might be OK)? - Nizil (talk) 18:05, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, go ahead. Dhaky is a reliable source. utcursch | talk 01:11, 15 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
