According to this I-174 was sunk 12 April by enemy aircraft, not 3 April in an "accident". Which account is correct? Drutt (talk) 06:13, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

BU

[edit]

"Raised and BU in 1942" This sentence appears (with no explanation), in the 'Kaichi IV class' section - the I-61 entry. Clicking on it brings you to a dis page where the closest statement seems to be: "bu, a Japanese unit for measuring length equivalent to 3.03 millimetres" (note the lower case 'bu'). As that is unlikely to be the correct definition, is there anyone out there who knows what "BU" means?

BU = Broken up.  Dr. Loosmark  19:52, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thank-you for the prompt answer to my query; you would think that in the interest of clarity "Broken Up" could have been used in the first place. Would you like to do the honours and edit sccordingly?

I73 is listed as being sunk on two different days by two different groups of ships. I understand about disputed claims. (The total aircraft claimed shot down was for instance about 3 times the number of planes in the air.) As listing for Gudgeon gives it as sinking this sub but listings for the other ships do not I suspect the first entry is correct especially as 2nd ref gives sinking far from convoy it attacked. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 157.203.255.2 (talk) 11:52, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
