B-class assessment
[edit]I've rated the article against the B-class checklist, apart from "coverage and accuracy", as I do not have the knowledge of this area or period. I've also added a basic infobox, but left the supporting materials as "no", as I feel it requires at least co-ordinates or some images (though I understand the sensitivity of adding such details to Syrian articles at present; at the very least, the infobox needs more attention than my meager contributions). Please let me know if there is anything with which I can assist. — Sasuke Sarutobi (talk) 14:21, 7 December 2015 (UTC)
- @Sasuke Sarutobi: Couldn't find the coordinates or images of ruins, which is surprising considering how it was a major town in previous eras. It could very well be that Kafartab has been subsumed by Khan Shaykhun's urban sprawl, but I need a source to confirm that. --Al Ameer (talk) 00:14, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
- Well that was quick, it seems @Attar-Aram syria: has found the coords and more information about Kafartab as well as pictures of mosaics, although I don't believe they are free. --Al Ameer (talk) 00:38, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
- انها مدينه كبيره واغلبها مدفون بعد الزلزال واهل المنطقه اكتشفوا كثير من المنازل والاسواق التي مازالت مدفونه 143.177.39.97 (talk) 02:15, 13 March 2024 (UTC)
Map and coordinate
[edit]I added the Arabic name. Those are the coordinates : 35°27'33.2"N 36°35'43.2"E
They work fine on google earth but adding them here was a problem and I didnt succeed.
This site have pictures from the city Kafartab
This video was filmed in it Kafartab. Cheers.--Attar-Aram syria (talk) 00:21, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you, Attar, I can't tell you how long I've been looking for this info. It was the main reason I didn't want to move the article to mainspace. I'll try figuring out the coords situation, but unfortunately I might need to bother you (whenever you're not busy of course) or someone else who can read Arabic with translating or adding info from the Arabic article you provided. Google translate is a mess when it comes to Arabic. --Al Ameer (talk) 00:38, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
- Never mind, I'll read your article (I havent yet) and compare it with the article I provided and add anything missing.--Attar-Aram syria (talk) 00:42, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
- I appreciate it. I've also found this article about Kafartab in French (which also corroborates the coords) which I will try to translate. Regards, --Al Ameer (talk) 00:47, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you both! I've uprated the article to C-class to reflect the addition of the map and Arabic details, and I've added the mosaics to the "External links" section". I'm afraid I've left B2 as "no" for now, simply because it doesn't feel like the article quite has enough in the later history for a B-class article just yet. — Sasuke Sarutobi (talk) 01:10, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
