"Based on" credit

[edit]

Hello @HM2021: Do you have reliable sources to support this addition? It appears that this movie will focus on new characters, and I haven't found anything confirming that Crichton will be credited.  AJFU  (talk) 17:30, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

At this stage, it's not possible for there to be sources for this, so we should just follow what the previous film does. It uses "Characters by by Michael Crichton". InfiniteNexus (talk) 23:42, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think we should have an unverifiable credit listed here merely on the basis of what the last film did. Dominion and others used that credit because they featured characters he created, but we don't know that that's the case here. I personally don't doubt that he'll be credited in some way. Maybe it will feature characters created by him. Or perhaps the "Based on" credit will go to his first Jurassic Park novel, or the second, or both. Wouldn't it be better to leave Crichton out for now, rather than make assumptions about whether and how he'll be credited? We can easily add the credit back in the infobox once there's confirmation.  AJFU  (talk) 15:36, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Title

[edit]

The name Jurassic City has only been used in a couple issues of Production Weekly (Feb. 22, Feb. 29). Otherwise, placeholder titles have been listed. Jurassic World 4 was used in issues between January 25 - April 25. Since May 2, they've been listing it as simply Jurassic Park. Is it possible that Jurassic City was removed because it turned out to be wrong? Has Production Weekly made mistakes before? FilmStories.co.uk also used the name Jurassic City ([1]), but noted that it's an unconfirmed rumor.

Jurassic World 4, although an unofficial title, does at least seem to be a common name among sources. My searches for Jurassic City, on the other hand, mostly bring up results for an unrelated 2015 movie. If filming starts without a confirmed title, I assume we would want to avoid using an obscure name that originated from a potentially inaccurate production listing. Would there be any issue in publishing the draft at Jurassic World 4? The Fallen Kingdom article also listed temporary titles until a name was confirmed, so I assume that would be acceptable here, and it's more concise than something like Untitled Jurassic World film. We can specify in the opening sentence Jurassic World 4 is the unofficial title[1] for an upcoming American science fiction action film...

Hopefully, there will be a title reveal as filming begins, but I thought it might be good to bring this up and suggest an alternate name ahead of time, just in case.  AJFU  (talk) 17:22, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Tentative title names shouldn't count. Maybe it's best to have it either untitled seventh Jurassic film or something like that. BattleshipMan (talk) 03:07, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This article should either be at Untitled Jurassic World film or Jurassic World 4 if others are comfortable with the WP:COMMONNAME argument. "Jurassic City" is currently just a rumored title. This article acknowledges both titles but uses "Jurassic World 4" as the common title. - adamstom97 (talk) 05:49, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. This discussion should be turned into a formal rename proposal. Betty Logan (talk) 06:25, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am all in favor for a rename. I was gonna change it myself as I am a JP fan, but I don’t know how to. It’s unconfirmed anyway as to what the title is going to be. So either “Jurassic Park 7” or “Jurassic World 4” would be appropriate. Riku Kurosaki (talk) 07:50, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
IMDB goes with Jurassic World 4 so it works for me. Betty Logan (talk) 08:41, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like Variety here says, "The new film has also been labeled as 'Jurassic World 4' and 'Jurassic City.'" I would prefer Jurassic World 4 as more recognizable per WP:CRITERIA for now. The first sentence can indicate that it is a colloquial (or whatever adjective) title for the film. Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 12:13, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that should be changed to Jurassic World 4 for now. We might also add (AKA Jurassic Park 7) along the way. I might move the page. BattleshipMan (talk) 14:41, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I support a move to Jurassic World 4 or Untitled Jurassic World film, and am leaning more in favor of the former, per the sources. Jurassic City should not be used as a definitive title, and I think Variety's report is enough justification for a move. Trailblazer101 (talk) 17:14, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'd rather something like Untitled Jurassic World film for now but Jurassic World 4 is alright too. Anything but the current title RyanAl6 (talk) 02:19, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The rename has been carried out so this is a moot point now, but whilst I agree that "Untitled Jurassic World film" may have the slight edge (because it makes it clear the film is as yet untitled), "Jurassic World 4" has the advantage of us not having to faff around with all the incoming links once the film gets a proper title. Editors can do that if they want to, but it won't be a matter of urgency. Betty Logan (talk) 03:31, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
all the websites refer to this film as Jurassic world 4 173.72.3.91 (talk) 15:43, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Variety is not the only site using that title, there's 3 sources using that title. KingArti (talk) 13:10, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Variety only says it is one of a few titles it is referred to as, it does not confirm that it is the official title at this point. Other sources have taken the title as definitive when it has not been confirmed. Consensus is in favor of Jurassic World 4 until we receive concrete confirmation on what the title will be. Title, Part II

[edit]

Regarding the bold move to change Untitled Jurassic World film to Untitled Jurassic Park franchise film, I think the title is now getting to be unnecessarily wordy. Even though it probably won't be part of the World series, there's also a very high chance it also won't be part of the Park series, and since Jurassic World is arguably more commonly known as the face of the franchise (for better or worse) these days, I believe it makes more sense to keep the title concise and to the point and stick with Untitled Jurassic World film until it is officially named.

If only Universal knew the chaos they were causing here. Dr. Malcolm would have a field day with this. GSK (talkedits) 04:10, 17 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This article should not have been moved to this most recent one without a new discussion, as it is an undiscussed and clearly controversial move. "Untitled Jurassic World film" should suffice for the time being, as that (along with "Jurassic World 4") is what most sources refer to this as, not "Jurassic Park 7" or something along those lines. Trailblazer101 (talk) 06:39, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
this article should be moved to jurassic world rebirth that is most likely the new title

This is still WP:TOOSOON and that title has only been areported as a rumor, and has not been officially confirmed by the studio. There is WP:NORUSH in waiting for official confirmation. Trailblazer101 (talk) 15:52, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No colon like the last film

Per the official YouTube and Twitter announcements, and the official website. Given this just happened minutes ago, more sources are likely to come. InfiniteNexus (talk) 16:10, 29 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think I remember that there was a poster for it that shows it's R-Rated,can you consider adding that if it's ok? I might find it's probable poster. Edit:found it[2]86.98.181.137 (talk) 18:36, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: The filming is not yet complete, so there is no rating yet. Posterspy is fan art. RudolfRed (talk) 19:31, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
