Comments

[edit]

Someone should include a resolution of the Jumbotron. The new washington nationals stadium in DC uses a 4500 sq ft screen. Is that the biggest in the world?

Tron vs. tron

[edit]

The Sony site uses a capital T: JumboTron. See, for example, http://www.sony.net/Fun/SH/1-36/h2.html (image caption). Candy 18:35, 21 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sony in LED Display business?

[edit]

Does Sony still make Jumbotron displays?--BigMac1212 17:44, 6 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This link, http://catalog2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ModelDetail?storeId=11201&catalogId=13051&modelNo=ASTROVISION, leads to an error page at Panasonic. 4.243.227.135 07:00, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Serious clean up

[edit]

There are references in-text, and at one point the page says "6 sided octagonal JumboTron" - absurd! I'm going to clean this thing up as best I can, because it really needs it. Cheeser1 22:49, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Clean up: yeah. please Cheeser1 go for it. would note 3 different spellings (perhaps using redirect). JumboTron, Jumbotrone and Jumbotron. also, just found a simply written description here maybe of some use to you. http://bigbeefandbeer.com/jumbotronFAQ.htm Bine maya 10:41, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Offensive Picture

[edit]

I think the picture of hte ABC video display shouldbe removed because it is offensive to christians, particularly Catholics, because of hte wording on it. people are unable to see the context or complete sentence —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.95.138.245 (talk) 12:42, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Censorship is not a part of Wikipedia. 75.110.137.47 (talk) 06:09, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is an ironically hilarious photo. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.194.135.24 (talk) 17:56, 18 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree on Wikipedia's censorship policy but I also agree that the image could be changed to something more neutral. As much as it is good for Wikipedia to not censor info, it would also be good to try not to offend people where it is not needed. Ex. On the Jumbotron article. People should try to make Wikipedia more of an inviting place for all users. Frogger48 (talk) 20:24, 20 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That picture is wonderful and I hope it never gets taken down. 83.64.104.186 (talk) 14:20, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

CRT or VFD?

[edit]

The design section states to begin with that a Jumbotron is a very large VFD, later that it consists of small CRTs. As this, to my knowledge, is two different technologies a bit clearance on the design would be appreciated

Fixed. You are correct, VFD and CRT technologies are different. 71.119.73.233 (talk) 05:20, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

CRT Sub-Pixels

[edit]

I know they're rather rare in collecting circles, but does anyone happen to have one (or a set of three) of the early CRT sub-pixels that they can upload a photo of? 71.119.73.233 (talk) 05:24, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

JumboTronJumbotron – Article is about the class of television rather than the defunct trademarked brand by Sony. Common usage is the non-trademarked form. Google it! Marcus Qwertyus 10:12, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Restructuring for clarity

Hi, I'm trying to reorganize this page so that its easier to navigate. I don't plan to change any images. Mmunderwood (talk) 20:40, 9 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Odd first line

[edit]

A jumbotron, sometimes referred to as Jumbovision, is a large-screen television using technology.

Does anyone have an idea what this was supposed to say? This is a question using technology. :P A Shortfall Of Gravitas (talk) 04:44, 27 July 2018 (UTC) Ugh, ok. "Technology" linked to large-screen television technology.[reply]

Fixed to just display this & changed wording a bit to reflect. A Shortfall Of Gravitas (talk) 04:50, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It's a new 2023 venue built in a two-sided jumbotron. B137 (talk) 04:54, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
