Memories

[edit]

Hey, so someone edited the article to say memories is the lead single because he/she found out the tracklist on Maroon 5’s website. However, I disagree on Memories being the lead single. Maroon 5 has not mentioned that it’s the lead single from the album yet, and I think it was only included on the album. What do y’all think? DuaLipaFan23951 (talk) 15:14, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Definitely not the lead single, but not for the reasons you listed. "Memories" just can't be the lead single of Jordi. Per Template:Infobox song#album: if the song was originally released as a single well in advance of the album,. That leaves some ambiguity as to what "well in advance" means, so they have given an example: for example, "Beck's Bolero" and "Back on the Chain Gang" were released as singles about 16 months before they were added to albums and became well-known before the albums. "Memories" was released a whopping 21 months before Jordi is scheduled to be released (September 2019 to June 2021), so it definitely falls under the rule of "not from the album but later added to one/well-known before the album". Now, back to the reason you listed, the song doesn't need to be confirmed as the lead single by the artist, it just needs to be confirmed by a reliable source and follow Wikipedia consensus. But, I agree that the song is not the lead single, and I have gone ahead and removed all mentions of that. D🐶ggy54321 (let's chat!) 00:29, 2 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hey guys, I don't think "Memories" might be on the album at all. The tracklist got removed from their website so it is possible that the tracklist might have been changed for some reason. So I edited both articles for the album and the song to reflect this. 199.119.235.143 (talk) 16:28, 2 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It's likely it will be on the album as the song is about Jordan Feldstein (Jordi), who the album is also about (and named after), but I agree that there is no confirmation that the song will be on the album. D🐶ggy54321 (let's chat!) 16:53, 2 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: Maroon 5 made it quite clear when it was released that it was the lead single. Upon release, Maroon 5's guitarist described the song as the then-untitled album's first single in an interview with ABC News Radio, and Idolator referenced that when "Nobody's Love" came out. The article should state what the sources say. Sean Stephens (talk) 00:21, 3 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

About Mickey Madden’s departure

[edit]

To be honest, I feel like adding the reason why Mickey Madden left the band shouldn’t be included in the article. I feel like it’s off topic from the album and takes it away what the album is about. The sentence says, "It is the band's first album without bassist Mickey Madden, following his departure from Maroon 5 in 2020 due to his arrest from charges of domestic violence." We should just say "It is the band's first album without bassist Mickey Madden, following his departure from Maroon 5 in 2020", like it was originally. What do y’all think? • I tend to agree that it shouldn't be mentioned in the lead, as his domestic violence charges certainly aren't overwhelmingly relevant to the album. However, I do think it should be covered in a background section, but care must be taken to ensure it's included neutrally. I think your suggested rephrasing is the best alternative (I've tweaked it slightly, including "the band" as opposed to "Maroon 5", given the fact that their name is already established earlier).
